well a few months ago(about 5) I was having this same problem and it just came back just to [email protected]# with me  I want to know what sensor's from the engine or transmission can be causing this problem, when crusing lets say at about 40mph 2,500rpms the car revs on its own up to lets say 3,500rpms twice in a row with my foot not even on the throttle and sometimes its revs on its own but it feels that it's not even on a gear and all of a sudden it kicks back in. I heard somewhere that the trans has a sensor that can be causing this and I dont think its the engine, can it ? I changed the trans oil about 5 months ago but I didnt changed the filter. I dont want to take it to a mechanic and get a large bill if its only a sensor that I can change myself, any suggestion....:headscratch:

Not sure what sensor would do that, maybe someone can help you with that.
