The old Ford solenoids used to have 4 connections. One on each side for the battery cables and 2 in the front. One was marked with an "I" for ignition and "S" for solenoid. Ford no longer uses this configuration. Though the new solenoids on the market still conform to the old style 4 post solenoids, they in fact only need 3. The battery and starter cables go on the sides and there should only be a Blue wire w/ red stripe that plugs onto the small post. Disregard the other. At least that's what I did on my 91 vert.
