Cleaning up the wiring and had a couple wires on this which was on the right side of the solenoid. What is it and what’s its purpose, also do I need it?

it was a black and white wire

ahh i see, mine is backwards though....starter on the left and everything else on the right.

Thank you very much, this helps so much. Just so I’m on the same page...I do have a mini starter that I just put in, so it has to be like the picture, correct?
