Starting issue when engine is warm...

1109 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  speedytang
My 5.0L 1990 LX starts fine when cold but will only start when warm when I put throttle to the floor. I have replaced O2 sensors, adjusted the TPS to be .98V dead-on, and cleaned the idle air control. Any other ideas from anyone?

Thanks!

I just bought a 91 GT. The guy I bought it from said it would only start when cold. When the engine was warm it wouldn't crank and if you held the ignition turned to crank it the negative battery cable got really hot. He said it was the starter and gave me a spare to put in.
Well, I looked at the negative battery cable & terminal and they were a corroded mess. I cut the cable to get to fresh wire, wire brushed the terminal and it cured the problem 100%. Not sure if yours is cranking when warm or a different problem, but thought this might help.
