I wanted to get a new steering wheel. The one on the car is an aftermarket one, and I would like to get something closer to original. What can I expect to pay for a new one, or is there anywhere I can find a good used?

'closer to original'? Seems to me there is no 'closer'. You either do the original plastic wheel or the Pony wood wheel. Anything else is just different.

A lot of 'different' wheels have flakey horn systems and depending on whether you have power steering or not as to what diameter you want.

I would assume that all of the Mustang Parts Houses have both type of repro original wheels. If you go for plastic, make sure it is colored plastic thru and thru, not just surface colored.

Most used plastic wheels, by now, would have cracks in them.

I am in the process of inquiring, from a repro mfgr, if they will do colored stock plastic wheels in a reduced diameter. One that will look the same as factory, use the stock horn button, have a larger diameter grip and be in the 14 1/2 inch diameter range, instead of the current 16".

I threw away my plastic one as it was cracked, was ugly and fake, and wrapped with a cheap steering wheel cover. I paid around $200 for one of the nice REAl wood ones and it made a huge difference in the interior looks dept.
