Whats the rating on the stock alternator?
Would a 200AMP aftermarket alternator be overkill for my engine and 750-950Watt amplifier?

We just installed a 160 amp alternator!

I believe the stock alternator has a 130 amp rating. 200 amp sounds a bit high. We just installed a 160 amp alternator on my sons 2003 GT Mustang. We decided to go with the 160 amp because my son uses his car for Police patrol. He has a police computer, police radio, siren, flashing lights, a GPS system, his sterio and amp, and a video player with 3 screens. The stock alternator could not keep up with the demand. He is on vacation so he really hasn't put the 160 alternator to the full test yet. As soon as he goes back to work, we will know how well the 160 amp alternator is doing. Don't forget to use an additional heavy duty wire, from your alternator to your positive battery terminal with the appropriate inline fuse. We are using a 200 amp fuse. This is in addition to your stock alternator wiring. Good luck, Tommy.
