Hi afm, I have this question. I was checking the manual on how to remove the stock Shaker500 on the 2007 GT, and up until now everything was fine until I came across this note:

Prior to removal of the audio unit, it is
necessary to upload the audio unit configuration
information to the diagnostic tool. This information
needs to be downloaded into the new audio unit
once installed.

And this is where im lost. Now, Ive gone into the diagnostic mode and in the 6th preset there is the radio config mode ( I already wrote down all those numbers just in case). What comes next?
uploading? downloading? Help!

I think that only applies if you are replacing the shaker 500 with another shaker 500. I replaced mine with a Pioneer Avic Z2 and didnt do all that.

I found that the radio in my 05 GT is drawing power even when the key is turned off, so I pulled the fuse to save the battery. I want to replace the radio but was told that the amplifier(s) won't work with a new radio. What do I need to do to replace this radio? Do I also need to replace the speakers?

Hey there zombie thread, back from the dead.

That said... how did you determine that it was the stereo that's drawing power? I'm just curious.

If you are sure it's the head unit itself, I think there is an adapter that you can use along with a 5V regulator to power the amps/subs. Either that or you will have to cut/splice some wires to get them to work.

However if the draw is from a short somewhere in the wiring harness you may have your work cut out for you as the draw will continue even after replacing the stock head unit.

I have a link on my work computer that I saved since I'm planning on upgrading my entire system later this year... but that doesn't do much good until Monday. Try searching google for "replacing shaker 500 stereo" or something to that regard. There are plenty of threads out there that cover this upgrade... you just gotta do some reading/research to find the info.

Check out Crutchfield.com. They have fitment guides.
Hey, when you replaced the HU, were you able to switch the Shaker on and off like you can with the stock system? Going to order a new JVC HU on the 15th along with the PAC adapter so my Shaker still works. The Crutchfield guy wasn't sure about being able to toggle the subs on and off. I usually run it with the Shaker System off because there is just too much bass for me.

The Shaker 500 Config files are needed ONLY if you are replacing it with a brand new one from FORD.

I pulled my stock shaker a few months after I bought it. Installed a higher end Alpine. The Shaker amps WILL work and I can turn off the subs. I can actually adjust the type of output from the subs AND adjust the level from 0 to 15.

So it must be completely dependent on the unit you replace it with. How high end? Over $500?

Yes, Only if it is Brand New and has never been installed. If you were to install a used unit, it should already have the files in it.

Not THAT high end! lol. I paid less than $300 for an Alpine CDA-9886. That was about 4 years ago, now you can find them on [email protected] for much less. I forgot to mention that I added the Alpine KTP-445 power pack amp and it made a huge difference in the sound.
