Hi fellas,

I've read all the postings on installing amps and still have questions
and seek your feedback.

I'm looking at installing a 3 channel amp (JBL gto-3ez) in the upper footwell on the
passenger side that would amp the 2 door speakers and a sub in the trunk.

If I want to continue using the stock speaker wires, how much slack
is there when I cut the front speaker out wires? Do I need to splice
extensions into the amp? and then from the amp speaker out have
extensions that are spliced back into the existing front speaker wires?

I'm not at all interested in amping the rear speakers, otherwise
the PAC aoem-frd24 seems like a great option....

thanks,

L

I dont know if this is because I have a shaker500, but I couldnt find my stock speaker wire through the door. The colors werent the same. Besides I just bought 40ft of 16gauge speaker wire and ran with that all the way from the speakers to the amp.

hmm, yeah i'm not sure about the differences between the shaker500 and the base 4ch setup. I was planning on cutting the front L/R speaker outs from the back of the radio.

For those who have taken out the radio, is there a hole that leads
into the upper left passenger footwell? I know there is some sort
of opening there as i can reach a little bit in there from the left footwell area.

Behind the radio there is hole openings to the right drivers side and the left passengers side. They are more like big open spaces. Atleast I remember that when I was doing my install.
