so my dad and uncle own this dirt track car. i think he said it was a 427 block with a 350 crank and rods but pistons to match the block. so basically i've seen some 3.8's turned into 4.3's.

what turns that 3.8 to the 4.3? does it keep the same block and pistons just diff rods and crank or vice versa?

i mean that motor with the 350 internals produces 700+hp. its naturally aspirated so thats really impressive for an na motor.

if i'm wrong about this let me no but this is what i'm thinkin. keep the block and pistons get a bigger crank but shorter rods.

or...okay lets approach this differently because i'm obviously not getting the input i want.

im boostin 5psi i got a 255lph pump and 30# injectors on the way. WHAT should i change to get the most out of my motor. i dont want to bore anything. and i am deff on a budget...till i'm out of high school haha. then i'll have 22g's to work with:D

I have also seen a couple people with 4.0 that was a 4.5. I was curious as to how that worked too.

If you shorten the rod length you are going to lose cubes... If you bore and stroke the motor then you will be gaining cubes... Stroke means the piston travel, so you would need to increase the distance the piston travels or the area that the piston is going through, such as boring and getting bigger pistons. I meant if you shorten the distance that piston is moving then you will lose cubes... If you shorten the rod length then the piston will be traveling less than it would be if you lengthened the rods, but when you start to lengthen the rods the motor can quickly become unstable. I will try to explain better tomorrow, I am tired.

I am confused on where the 427 comes into play though??

And since when is your car turbo'd? What kind of power are you putting out? Who installed it? What all is done to the car? You need to give a bit more background info if you have a charged car and want info on what to do next...

the 427 was just the motor my dad and uncle have in their dirt track car and it got me thinking about my car cuz that crank is exceptionally small for that block.

anywho ya my car is turbo'd i was asking in that last post cuz i didnt really think my placement in the car was satisfying. with the 5psi and right around 275whp/310wtq. i did it myself. thats what i was asking about the vacuum line too. we found a subsitute but idk if its the right position. so far just that turbo. but my pipe set up is what gives most of my power. i got the stock shorties going into a huge collector on the left side by the steering column and then out the collector is like...3.5 inches big? then it downgrades an inch into the turbo then out the 2.5in into my o2's then thru a 3 in flow thru muffler. other than that i have a short throw kit, some big rims and wheels, and my transmission was just rebuilt, plus i just cleaned out my injectors and...basically the whole top end and polished em up.

obviously what i want out of my stang is boost and idk maybe around 10psi will be fine. i want to stroke the motor as well but not for a bigger cube i want my engine to rev fast and high, the turbo will do the rest. so idk i guess i want my grand total to be around 400wtq. which could be done with a little over one bar of boost but i want to keep my internals light cuz i guess i was wrong about forged being lighter.

So now it has been turbo'd? :heha:

This is not one of those other forums where you can talk crap about your car.

Port and Polish the heads/intakes and get a more aggressive cam and you will see much more power. The fact that the engine will better be able to breathe will help the turbo breathe better as well and the engine will spin up faster. You will need to do a lot more work to the car itself to make it be able to handle the power though... 400rwhp is too much for the stock V6 chassis to handle.

damn...i didnt think about the chassis...mutha fuh. yer right 400rwtq would rip apart the stock tranny and deff bend the frame. shizz. okay well what would be the limit for the trans and chassis? i think my torque now is too much for the stock trans isnt it? i think the limit is 300... wtf do you do for an ohv.... that means the cam is is in the middle and it uses rocker arms to open the valves right? hmm. whats the stock cam and what one would you perfer? and i'm still waiting for an answer about that crank and rod setup.

and ya its finally turbo'd. its no 600+hp like yours but hey. i'm only 17 old man=]

And you realize how much SFC's do for our unibody as well... You try to do that on a stock unibody SN95 and you will not see nearly the car's potential... We both know that... What do you think you would see without SFC's?? Being honest... You would be all over the track trying to transfer the power to the rear end. You do not even have a rear sway bar? Did you disconnect the front sway bar? All you have done is put the power into the car and upgraded the drive train and the SFC's?

Bigger injectors and fuel pump sound good to me, what waste gate / spring are you running?

anywho it holds 8psi. but i can always take it off and go with an external one. the turbines max is 35psi. what about a more aggressive cam? what would i have to look up?
