Its not to bad installing a sub amp to a shaker 500 system. 1st thing is deciding on a amp. If you have 2 4ohm subs, buy a mono block amp. (you will get more power for the money) If you have only 1 sub buy a bridgeable 2 channel amp ( thats what I have with 1 10in sub). Now the parts you will need is a line out converter for your signal (RCA's) and the proper size power wire kit ( this has all the pieces you need to wire up the amp. it should have the battery wire, ground wire, remote turn on wire, spk wire, rca's and fuse holders). there are tons of kits out there that have everything you need to hook everything up. Now wiring the line out converter. Up in the drivers side kick panel there are 2 silver boxes with one plug coming out the side ( those are the factory sub door amps,1 for right and 1 for left) Thats where you need to get signal from because of the crossover in the factory amp ( only low feq. comes out) now find the wires wht/green + and green/org - for left and org/green + and blu/wht - for right, tap onto those wires with the line out converter. plug the rca's into it and run to amp. Next is a turn on connection, locate a black/pink wire under the steering collum, tap into that wire with a fuse holder (thats a acc wire from the key) you can go the the fuse box if you like but sometimes its hard to find proper voltage acc. connection. I have been told theres a connection that can be used but I haven't looked. Someone else on here may know where it is in the fuse box. so by now you should have everthing ran to the trunk (power wire, remote and rca's) now you need a ground wire and make sure its bolted or screwed tightly to a good metal surface. Now find a good location to mount the amp (I mounted mine on the side of the box) make your connectios to the amp and wire up the sub spk. Now your ready to turn it on and adjust the settings on the amp and line out converter. I recommend adjusting the LOC about half way. For the amp start about half way on the gain and set the low pass crossover to around 80 htz and then tweek as needed. With my MTX amp, single 10in sub with a 1 cubic foot box I have plenty of bass. Anyways I hope this helps with the install. Let us know how it turned out.
