I'm am looking forward to being the owner of a 99-04 mustang soon. I know I should get the car first before going to deep into what I want in upgrades, but I'm just thinking ahead so I know how much money I need to save.

To trick it out, some of the things I want and need help on would be subs, neon lights, blue halo headlights, and window tinting.

Subwoofers - Im thinking about a Kenwood package that comes with 2 12 inch 1200 watt subs, and an amp. Which is about $270 off amazon.com. What do you guys think and about installation, would it be hard? Or would it be easier to just pay somebody to do it?

Neon Under Lights - I would LOVE any color of neon under lights. Here in MI it is legal to have them, but not drive with them on. So I was at my local street racing store, and saw a kit for about $200 that had 2 under lights, with many choices of color. Would you recomend for a 99-04 mustang? And do you think I could install it my self?(I'm not a very car techy guy)

Halo Blue Headlights - they look sweet, and they are brighter then average ugly headlights. Where can I find them, how much would they cost, and would you recomend them on a 99-04 mustang?

Window Tint - I would love 5% all around.. Would you recomend it? And how much would it cost on a 99-04 mustang? Does anybody have 5% tints here? Is it a problem with the cops?

i would definitely think about not putting neon lights under you car, i would edit that part out of the post you are going to get rode hard about under car lights on her, its meant for rices, and my friend FORD MUSTANGS are not ricers

and the whole tinting the windows thing it depends on where you live where i live they are illegal, unless you have a doctors signature that you need the tint for sunlight or something, i have 5% tint on my gt right now, and its ok but i am thinking about getting it removed,

Its the best way to make your car stand out and you will definitely get people looking at you everywhere you go :laugh: Plus they gotta add like 50 horsepower or something.

In all seriousness dont get neon lights. And a Mustang is made to be a performance car....so I would personally start buying performance mods or subtle styling mods first. No body kits, outrageous spoilers, or neon lights on a Mustang. :nono:

Yea, stay away from the neon lights. Window tint is ok, check your local laws for the legal percentage. Once you get the car you may like to hear the rumble of your engine over the radio and forget all about the subwoofers. I have the premium package and the stock stereo equipment is fine for me.

Good choice on the mustang if you do get it. Be sure to browse around the different forums and you may change your mind on some of your first upgrades, you don't want to be outed or rejected from a local mustang club down the road for having the neon lights and a big wing. I'd save the money for gears and a cai to start. Good luck:bigthumbsup

If you get 5% tint all around, your going to have to roll your window down to back up at night. It is illegal there to have tint that dark, but i don't know how much they enforce it.

And please don't get Underglow :nono:. you'll get made fun of. i promise.

Go to Americanmuscle.com all of their stuff is fairly taste full.

While you're at it get two 7 inch fart cannons, a shotgun with slugs, a 3 foot wing, and chain steering wheel and hang a banana from your rearview mirror. The shotgun is for your face, you need it.

When i first bought my stang, it had a subwoofer wired in already and half an underglow set (they were UV Purple, or at least that's what I'm told... the previous owner popped 2 of the tubes and never bothered fixing them, then lost the control module and transformer anyway so there was really no point in spending the money to get them back on) it sounded cool, but i decided 1, how necessary are they and 2, I'm not in a fast and furious movie with vinyls all over my car and blue flames coming out of my car.
As for the sub, I 110% am all for it. The stock mach460 system sounds great, but once you can hear side by side when you get the sub, you'll never be able to live without it again. It's like a whole different song being played as long as it's done right and not set wayyy too loud for the stock speakers.
As for the tints, I have 20% all around and i think theyre perfect. If i could do it over i would've gone 15% but i don't think it's that different. 5% give a great exterior look but make it VERY difficult to park and back out at night. Even with my 20's I have to put my windows down most of the time to see where I'm going.
Now that I've written my book review, enjoy :bigthumbsup .... forgot to add...I LOVE my blue interior foot-well neon's. They highlight the interior well and (I don't think) rice it out.

1st of all, racin366 your pathetic. Neon lights look awesome, I don't care if it's a Ferrari, or a crappy old creeper van. It's my car, and I'm not putting freaking bannana peels on MY car.

2nd of all, I don't need to put to many internal upgrades in my car. I'm not going for racing I'm going for looks, and sound first. Once I get the things I listed in, then maybe I'll go for more speed.

3rd, subs are awesome. Everytime I hear a song with an awesome bass, I go aw man that would sound amazing with subs.

4th, Im not guna get kicked out of a mustang club, because I doubt I will join one. And who is guna make fun of me for having neon? The chicks at my school? "hahaha look at him! He has neon underglow in a mustang! Hahaha what a loser!" Not. Guna. Happen. More like "dude look at his car! The lights are so pretty, that's awesome! Maybe he will give me a ride home!" you guys can make fun of me all you want, but we all know deep down inside it's all about the girls.

Sorry for being rude, but I don't see why it's a big deal to make my car what I want my car to look like. I don't care if I do try to join a mustang club and they won't let me join. Screw them. It's my car, and I'm not guna spend my hard earned money to make it look like what other people want it to look like.

Definately go with subwoofers, I usually get mine off craigslist, which is a bit iffy, but whatever. Installing them is simple, the only hard part, if that, is tapping into the remote wire behind your radio deck. I have 2 Alpine type R's and they blow my doors off, straight up.

Get the neon lights under the footwell and in the back seats. It doesn't look good under a Mustang and isn't worth the 200 dollars PLUS installation. Suggest getting some exhaust to make that 'Stang sound like a beast. Chicks love that ****, aslong as it isn't a honda farting.

For window tint, get like 15 percent lowest. Otherwise you'll have a ****** time seeing at night and could get harrassed by coppuhs. Just don't get neon underglows man, cops will ticket the **** out of you and make up reasons to search your car. I've seen the BS happen. If you get subs, go with alpine. Kenwood aren't that great. T is your car and you have the right to what ver th hll you want to it, I was just saying don't talk about neon underglow on here so that you won't get picked on, I would recommend not getting it for legal purposes but it's up to you as for subs I have no clue and tint like said before don't go to dark because at night and also because of cops

Yea, it will be your car if you end up getting it, but don't ask our recommendation and our thoughts and then get upset when we give you our honest opinion.:nono: If you go to the lounge you will see a lot of people do not like "riced" mustangs or 4 cylinders with huge fart cans. It's just the way it is on here.
Once you get the car, if you do, after a while of driving you may change your mind on what some of your first mods should be. More power to you whatever you decide.
Maybe at this point in your life it is all about the girls for you. If that was my case I would have went with a corvette or ferrari. I chose a mustang because I like it, not because I wanted to use it as a pick up chick car.

I guess i can understand where your coming from, my first car was soo riced out, i didnt know it then, but when i look back at it now i have to giggle a little bit. But you do what you want, if you want your underglow, go for it, if you wanna donk it out, go for it. Your gonna be the one driving it, not us.

If you ask me, the underglow just looks cheesy. For the subs, go with a nice Rockford P3 or Alpine Type R 12 inch. Build a custom box out of MDF so that it will fit better and sound better. For the tint, I'm going to tell you right now don't do 5%. I have it on my back windows and I cant see a damn thing. I have to roll my windows down all the time at night because they are waay to dark. I had 20% on my last car (97 Mark VIII) and it was perfect. Just do that all the way around and you will have a sharp looking car.

I've had 10% before and yes, i did have to roll my window down at night, but it made my car a lot cooler. It was dark enough so that if you pressed up on the window you could see in, but from a couple feet away you couldnt. It was nice to have down here in the desert.

Oh I agree that subs are awesome, I have a real good 12 in a custom box and with the other audio things I've done you'll be hard pressed to find any system that can rival the sound quality. There are plenty that are louder and mine doesn't rattle the damn license plate, but the clarity is second to none.

Neons and wings and garbage like that are for ricers and honduhs, it should be a crime to do that to any car, especially Mustang. And if someone does that to a Ferrari I'm pretty sure the ground would open up and swallow that buttwipe because nature takes care of its own. Not only does it look like it should be in the gay pride parade in the ghetto, but it draws the wrong kind of attention. Might as wheel put on some 13 inch wheels, 4 color paint, and a giant rainbow ************ sticker.

And since I'm pathetic I'll remember that when you have a real question so I don't help out.:bigthumbsup

I have 3% on mine and I always back in to parking spots and at night I have to roll down the window to back up, but it's worth it with the heat here, and I like my privacy, this way tards with neon wonder who that was that just spanked them all over the track.
