hey guys, i just aquired some cobra r's for my 90 GT. it had some 205's on two of them and 255/40 on the other two. aside from the 205's being completely trashed, they look absolutely HORRIBLE! they are stretched beyond belief. kinda reminds me of a honda :nono:
the 255's in the rear look good, kinda meaty. my car will be lowered an inch in the upcoming month, so i was wondering what size tires i should get for the front. should I go with some 245/45/17 or will they rub? anybody have pics of their cobra r's on 245's?

245/45 17 shouldn't give you a problem on 8" fronts, I have 235/45 17 17x8's in front with 255/40 17x9 in back. I'm also lowered 2". No rubbing ever with PonyR's .

im running 245/45 on my 88. i get some rubbing in the front when i have passengers because i have the ride height set at max lowering for when its only me in the car, the extra weight puts it over the edge. and thats on 17x8 rims. i am switching to 17x9 and have heard of people running 275/40's all around, and also 255/40 for the front also. i'm not real sure what i will end up with and am looking for suggestions here also, but i will be running 10th anniversary wheels.

245's on the front and 275's on the back. No clearance issues. I didn't have my quads on before so I don't know if they would have rubbed or not.

Here's what I've used on various cars.

- 245/45/17 x 9" front rubs on the lower control arm when turning sharp

- 245/45/17 x 8" front no rub on the lower control arm

- 285/40/17 x 10" rear rubs on the quad (even when flipped). Very close to tailpipe

- 285/40/17 x 9" rear no rub on the quad. Very close to tailpipe

Yep... I've had the same expierence !!... 17x8 F 17x9R seems to be the best "bang for your buck" set up.
