its obvious to everyone that the american version of top gear is just awful in comparison to the BBC version, not as funny, outrageous, or inventive. But today i watched an episode that just plain pissed me off. Season 2 episode 16, titled worst cars, claims that the worst car, or as they say "least cool" car, of all time is the Mustang II. now being a Mustang II owner i understand that we just have to take the criticism in stride, knowing that those who judge our cars are just ignorant to their abilities, but i cannot sit by while this sub par show mocks me and my fellow mustang ii owners. I don't know what to do though because no one watches the american version so i cant boycott it effectively any ideas?

I don`t even like the regular show from England that much. They have a habit of treating Americans like bas*ard step children.

The few times I've watch the American show it was because of Tanner, those other two clowns and the writers are a lost cause. I agree about the England version. Jeremy has a deathwish going for American cars and he really goes out of his way to down the Mustang and Americans in general.

I can't watch anything out of Britain, it is all substandard production quality and the accents grate at my nerves. The American version is more entertainment than techy car show but isn't that bad.

As far as Mustang II bashing, it happens every day, in every medium.

Everyone gets an opinion.......

Only reason your M2's get such a bad rap, imo, is because of the popularity of the generation that immediately preceded them. Purists see it as a betrayal to the nameplate. The Mustang went from being a performance car with economy-minded options to an economy car with no real performance options. Two things the purists conveniently forget though is how well the M2 sold in it's day, and if not for this "transitional period" in the Mustang's evolution it is widely speculated that the Mustang would have not made it through the 1970's. However it's remembered, it was the right car for the time.

As far as "least cool", I would put Pacer/Gremlin or anything from Chrysler's K car lineup well ahead of Mustang II's. Those were cars that didn't have to wait to age poorly, everybody knew they sucked before ever being driven off a dealer lot.

GM Monza wasn't great either especially after GM shoe horn V8 in. I cannot remember was it Old's had version of Monza too? Then there was Vega and Chevette.



74 Mustang was Car and Driver car of the year. I believe Mustang II out sold Mustangs before and after it. Biggest reason our cars get dogged because of non high powered car but wait no ones else had anything high powered either
