As I gear up for some performance enhancements it occurred to me that for the price of Most intercooled superchargers plus labor & a few other goodies I can almost pay for a crate motor . Totally love this motor , Too bad it's the 15K motor :weeps

On top of that Stroker Big Blocks range from
5700-7500 ( don't know if they would fit in the engine bay )
but they put out some serious hp & torque 520 hp & 620 lbs for the $7500 top of the line big block stroker.

5500 -7K you can get a 5.0 liter SB stroker w/ either 400 or 450 HP

Price of a SC w/ Labor

Curious what opinions are...Seems Ok to be able to save your Stock motor & beat up a "Crater" :evilchuck

It would be nice to have a crate motor, but... You will have to redo all the cars computer components amongst other things, no? And then change it back later, no thanks. If you convert completely over why don't you sell the original motor to recoup some costs?

or just get a body in white with the cammer...

as long as you got the bux, you can make anything work.
I think the Saleen or Vortech is the easiest solution.

the only problem with a body in white is, its illegal to drive them on state roads as they dont even have a vin number

Just buy the GT get forged and blueprinted internals, ported heads, new cams, LT headers, CAI and dyno tune to up the max RPMs to around 7-7.5k and you will be getting in the realm of the Saleen Supercharger without the boost.

SInce yoiu paid about 30,000 for the GT I would just buy a Supercharger. I wouldn't risk voiding the warranty. If you were planning on doing an engine swap you could have bought a V6 and saved 10 thousand. If you chose asupercharger I reccomend a Kenne Bell Twin Screw kit. It isn't out yet but should be soon. It should give you about 450 at 9 psi. and close to 600 at 14 psi. To the rear wheels. Thats about as much or more than you would get out of the 514 ci Crate. And it will cost about $1,000 less. You could also buy other assecceries from Kenne Bell and get it up to maybe 625rwhp. They may even come out with a Blowzilla kit which can get 20+psi. Also Twin Screw s/c get great power right off idle. Not like centrifical or turbos that don't get noticable power until the mid rpm range. Just my opinion

How much is the cammer car out of curiosity ??

Yeah I hear ya the Saleen seems to be the most logical although lots of choices posted ...gets me a little :kooky:

Just seems wacked that a S/C can run as much as a crate engine

Now on the other hand ..say I do go w/the saleen ..How would changing the X-Pipe , say cat back ..etc..effect the program from saleen ? Can you tune to specs beyond just what he S/C does ?

Hey I'm a novice with these High tech gizmo's . I'm still stuck on Bore it out & add another 4 bbl . From cars that never had cats to begin with .:dunce:

I have three cars (one is an SUV) that have superchargers. I pulled the engines on all of them first (two were new vehicles straight from the dealer) and went through a WAD of money on them to create an strong reliable engine and fuel/spark system that would survive extreme conditions. I have a Federal Mogal FAST engine management system on one that alone cost more than some superchargers. It will tune anything. I suggest that you use a system with closed loop WOT so you are sure to keep the AF right. Once you go down this road (supercharger) it "needs" a huge amount of money to do it properly.
By the time you do it right, it can easily run you $15k-$35K to do blown "system" right. I suggest you really need to be a gear head first line wrencher to cut costs and "know" enough of what you need before you start. If you are not, try to go to a very well known builder for the supercharger install and "ask" him some of what i have said here.

I can't wait to see what you end up with! Once it starts it gets bigger and bigger ! careful ! :thumbsup
