if i wanted to pull my 289 A code out and replace it with a lets say 88-90 5.0 how hard is the ordeal? will i need a new wiring harness from firewall to engine or will the original still work? also will it line up with the 4spd toploader transmission? what will need to be changed and what stays the same? thanks for the helpful information.

what wiring harness? You car doesn't have one...if you decide to run fuel injection then yeah you need an ECU and harness...besides that the motor would be a straight bolt in if you stay carbed....really the way to go it to stroke a 302 to 331 or 347, add aluminum heads and ride off into the sunset.
