Tomorrow's my day-off and i plan on changing the tranny fluid on my '85 LX, unfortunatly my car is lacking a manual. After looking around on the internet i've found some sites that say it takes somewhere around 3 quarts, i'm not sure on that one. does anyone know the exact capacity? I've also had people tell me to use: 1. motor oil, 2. ATF, 3. gear oil. my logic tells me that gear oil makes the most sense, but then again my logic has been wrong before so can someone give me a definate answer? thanks.

HELL NO Don't put gear oil in your T-5!! Some people say not to use synthetic ATF with the paper synchros but I've used amsoils version and the original T-5 is still alive in my 89 GT!
And if I remember it's 3.4 quarts, others correct me if I'm wrong?

The official fluid capacity is 2.8 qts. but 3 qts. will work.
