I've been looking around for T Loks, and I found a new one for a 7.5 28 spline and it says it'll fit most rangers, mustangs, etc. (Basically anything with a 7.5 28 spline). My question is, are the t lok units universal if they're the right spline count, regardless off the application? Aka different complete rear ends for different models. This one is just less expensive, so id like to know if I could use it.

Feel free to use it. I'm on three Ranger sites and they are using stuff from the Mustangs with no problems.

I think a t-lock and 4.10's will be my next upgrade. AM sells the t-lok, gears and complete install kit for $480. They are brand new, not sure what they are asking for what you described.

The one I was originally looking at was about 100. I actually decided to go with a refurbished one. They go through and test it, completely disassemble it, and reassemble it with any misc. parts that it may need or need replaced. The whole t-lok setup with 3.73s was about 200 bucks. And no break in period :bigthumbsup

I know I have the mechanical ability to do this on my own, but I've never done this before. Anybody have a step by step for differential housing removal/ installation?

I recently installed a t lok on my car, with stock gears, and it was a pain. It took me close to 11 hours and it was me and my dad. American muscle has some instructions that helped me, its for a 8.8 but it helps. Mustang Differential Gears - Installation Instructions at AmericanMuscle.com

I also made a list of websites that had helpful info and if I can find it I will post it.
