I used the new "T-stat RTV" by permatex. It was grey color.

I also sprung for the $3 Felpro Gasket.

1.)Glue t-stat to the housing.
2.)glue gasket to housing.
3.)RTV/glue intake.

My 351w had to replace it three different times before it quit leakin.

I just cant remember if I used a gasket or not and what kind of Sealant is best?:smoke:

Glue the thermostat to the recessed area in the housing and let it set for a few minutes.
Then lightly tack with glue the gasket to the housing and install.

It is key to use a small dab of silicone here, just enough to stick the gasket on, too much and you'll have a leak.

Also make sure that the mating surfaces are clean and not pitted, I like to slightly sand them off and wipe with acetone or alcohol.

And don't over torque the bolts, or you'll warp the housing and spring a leak.
