A slug hammer, a crowbar, and a 78 chevy pickup with a tow chain! should get it off :smoke:
I have done this already. i took my V6 stuff off and put GT stuff on.

Front Bumper-2 10mm nuts on each side under the fender (4 total), 2 10mm bolts on the top. the radiator cover has to come off. screws down the side of the bumper near the tire. turn signal bulbs need to pop off. Now, the front turn signals are held in by a special bracket with 2 rivets on each bracket. Drill these out to remove the bracket to place on the other bumper or whatever you are doing. You can use more rivets or bolts with lock washers and nuts (that's what I did).

side skirts- the side skirts have 2 plastic clips on the front. Pop out the center and the rest you can pull out. The underside of the car has about 8+ clips. Kinda a pain to get out and some break. They are VERY long so you might need to get more from the dealer. (i work next to a body shop, so my stuff was free). The rest of the skirt is held on by white clips. Just pull real hard and it'll give. pry the ones on the car out and place into old side skirt or new side skirt.

rear bumper 1-what a pain!!! hmmmm...kinda a blank right now. Whatever is near the rear tire holding the bumper to the 1/4 panel, remove that. 2 clips on the underside near the rear under the trunk. pop those out. remove the center trunk panel (plastic piece that surrounds the trunk latch. Do not worry about the side lights in your bumper. it will come as one unit and you can pull them out later. There will be 4 nuts you need to remove under the plastic piece that hold the bumper to the car. All 4 nuts are 10mm. Disconnect the license plate light harness. Runs from the bumper inside the car, down to the right. little white connector. it is kinda scary, but pull on the edge of the bumper near the wheels. Give it a tug, it'll give. It is held on by snaps from the bumper. After both sides, it should slide right off. have a towel or blanket ready to lay the bumper on.

rear bumper 2-When you get the bumper off, there is a special bracket for the rear bumper. If your new bumper does not come with it, remove it from your stock bumper. it is held in by quite a few rivets. drill those out, and like the front bumper, you can use more rivets but if you do not have access to a rivet gun, use 8mm bolts with 10mm heads and a few washers, lock washers, and matching nuts. 25mm in length should be enough.

I kinda rushed this. So, if you or anyone else needs help, lmk. I am 19years old, if I can do it, you can too. It was easier for me cause I have access to 3 hydro lifts. I did the front bumper on the ground at my house in 35 minutes. On and off. The sides were a little longer b/c of the clips, and the rear was the longest at about an 1 1/2 hours.

PS-you do not have to remove your tail lights. I thought you did, don't waste your time doing it. Later.

Ants2005stang, Thanks for the tips. :thumbsup

I have a dual exhaust and GT bumper coming in the next week or so and was wondering what was involved in the swap out.
yea, my dual magnaflow is supposed to be here in awhile too. I can't wait!! B.c right night, it looks like a GT until you see an exhaust port.....that is empy?? so, once I get that, it'll look so much better. I would like to see pics of yours. To see how it turns out.

my magnaflows should be here this week but I just ordered the rear bumper today so that will probably be another week behind the exhaust. I think I will wait to get the bumper first before I do the exhaust so I have my orginal bumper uncut and also be able to line it up better with the GT bumper openings. I also got the GT tires like you have. What a great deal on them! Plus they look great.

Got the rear GT bumper today and all went pretty smooth. Took a couple of hours. But I would like to add a few more notes to the above from Ants2005stang.

There are 8 pretty large rivets that hold a plastic brace/wiring harness for the lights on the inside of the bumper. When you get yours removed you will have to drill out and either rerivet it to the new bumper or use nuts and bolts to put it back on.

While you dont have to remove the tail lights to do this mod I highly recommend it. I spent 45 minutes trying to get the bumper snapped back in on the corners by the tail lights on reassembly. I had to take a break to cool off before I broke something. So I finally took the tail light out by removing 3 nuts (same size as the other ones you took off to remove the bumper to begin with). You can leave the tail lights connected to the wire harness and just swing it into the trunk out of the way. Once I did this the cover just snapped into place and the tail lights went right back in no problem.

You will also need one extra push style plug for the tab on the underside of the bumper. The GT has 3 and the V6 has two. When I unwrapped my bumper from when it was delivered at first it looked as if the tabs on the underside of the bumper were almost broken off. When I removed my stock on they looked the same so I guess thats normal, nothing to worry about.

Now................ I just need that magnaflow exhaust that I bought from a guy on fleabay 3 weeks ago now! I am told it will be in about another week or so before I get it. I did a buy it now feature with this guy and paid for it with paypal right afterwards. I hate it when they show the item in stock/have plenty of quantity and then after waiting 2+ weeks I am told the factory is telling him it will be another 2 weeks! He also has this same exhaust listed and currently there is 4 available for sale when hes telling me I have to wait another week. Go figure! I guess this way he doesnt have to have any inventory. Only good thing so far has been the price. I guess I will have to learn some patience! Plus the bumper is now ready for the exhaust! :yup:

hey bro. congrats on the bumper. The underside of the GT bumper, has that extra tab, and yea, mine was like that also. How it was looking like it was broken. If you bend it back and forth, it will break. My center one was a little broke, but not too badly.

About your magnaflow. I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and I am still awaiting it. Let me see who my seller was....fastautosports. He said that magnaflow was being slow with delivery. But he is working with me and said he was going to give me 3 day shipping. My car looks like a GT, so I try not to let people see a missing exhaust. lol.

o'yea....let see some pics damn it
pdf.

here a pdf i have to help..

Thanks for the posts, I was considering going with Magnaflow's cause of having a empty hole on the rear bumper...driving me nuts. But since people are still waiting on them, looks like my best bet is to have meinike pipe up my extra GT muffler.

No pictures until the exhaust is done! :gringreen

Yep, I ordered mine from the same guy that you got yours from. I paid him on 7-21 via a buy it now and paypal. He emailed me on 8-4 and told me 7-10 more days for him to get it from the factory. If you look at his ebay for sale section he still shows he has 4 in stock!!!!!!!! "WTF" :madas:

If the price wasnt so good I would be more pissed! At least the bumper is done. You going to do yours yourself or bring it in to a muffler shop?

I want to keep all the orginal stuff even the exhaust. I dont know if I can jack it up high enough in the garage with my jack stands to get the piping out in one section without cutting it. If I can it shouldnt be too big of a problem since it hasnt had enough time for the exhaust system to weld all the bolts together. :grinroll:

I am going to do mine myself. My dad owns a repair shop (i also work there full time) So i have unlimited lift time. The only thing I know that we will have to do is unbolt the exhaust, mount our Magnaflows, and the driver side hanger needs to be bent (so I figure). The exhaust is meant for a 6cyl rear bumper so It'll hang on that side b/c there is no exhaust port.

fastautosports is really nice though. he contacts me once a week and responds the same day or next day i contact him. He does have 100% feedback, so he must be doing something right. He is sending mine 3day when he gets them in. hopefully soon! My springs are going to be here before my damn exhaust. it looks so ugly back there!!
That exhaust was designed for 2 holes in the back bumper either by putting on a GT bumper or doing the cutout thingy that I didnt want to do on the orginal V6 bumper. I think they will hang just fine and be pretty close to the center of the cutouts with a little tweaking here and there.

Ya, I figured that with 100 percent it was a no brainer. Just doesnt seem right though to advertise you have them in stock but cant deliver it right away. Thats my not having patenice thing coming out again. :) I guess for the price its worth the wait.

So you going to flash your computor too when you install them? I figure I will un hook the battery when I go to install them and it should be good to go when I am done.
Let me know when you get yours and I will do the same. Cant wait to here it.................. :grinroll:

I have done this already. i took my V6 stuff off and put GT stuff on.
i come in peace... I am not trying to stir up trouble with this question, but why is everyone doing this? are gas prices really bad enough to not just buy the GT?

Keep in mind that you resurrected a thread from 2 1/2 years ago when gas prices were not really an issue.

Haha, I just found myself reading this thread, didn't notice how old it was. But I too wonder why buy a V6 stang and then try and turn it into a virtual GT. I say just buy the GT and spend your "GT" conversion funds on mods.:hihi:
