Hello there! :wavey

I need to replace the belt tensioner for my 1994 3.8 L mustang but i found it a little hard to loosen the torx screw, is there any trick i need to know? does it loosen clockwise? or is it just brute force?

im not too sure if my 2002 3.8 is the same as yours, but when i replaced my tensioner it was reverse thread. But i replaced the whole tensioner.

was it a torx screw? i've tried both ways, warmed up the engin (a little) but it just doesn't loose!! think i even broke my ratchet!!

hello again

i ended up changing just the pulley of the tensioner, it has a 18 mm hex nut and was a lot easier to replace than the whole tensioner (the 55 torx screw seems to be pretty tight).

When you adjust the belt you will need to tighten the tensioner hex-screw counter-clockwise but once you put the belt on its place you need to loosen a little the screw so the pulley wont burn when you turn on the motor again.
