Hey all! I'll post pics when I get a chance. We're back to owning 3 Stangs. Our 66 is gone BUT we're in a Caspian Blue with white stripes 1965 coupe. It has a transplanted freshly built 351w and the car is rust free. It's not perfect (backyard shop restoration) but it's solid and what we wanted for our next venture. It has a new blue and white interior and looks sharp. It's got a small tranny leak but we're not expecting it to be a big deal. Now we can tinker when we want but still have a fun cruising car for around town that looks clean enough to not have to be embarrassed to take it out.

We miss our 66 dearly but the reality of the situation was that the car was too far gone for a resto. Our 65 is named Jack... as in Jack White from the White Stripes...

We're pretty excited. It's scary because my little 200 is gone and I knew how to work on her. The 351w is a mystery to me. I think we got a great deal on the car and just the fact that we're rust free is refreshing. Like I said there are plenty of flaws in the paint but it's very straight. I'd be afraid to take a perfect car out of the garage anyway. I'm sure I'll be coming up with some questions about the 65 as I run across items on the car. It was originally a 289 car and I think they said the 351w was out of a 78 (so probably a van or a truck). It has an Edelbrock 4 bbl on it and runs great. I don't know what intake or gears are in him but nothing too spectacular as it feels like more of a highway car than a throw your head back from a stop car.

Sweet!! You'll have to bring him down to the college for me to see. I would drive up, but the way things are looking, Oliver isn't coming back this semester.

Hey Michael! How are things going back home and what's Oliver's status? I hope despite the issues you were having on your trip home earlier that it hasn't ruined your summer.

We're going to address the tranny leak and then he'll be hittin' the roads again.

Thanks for all the comments guys... we're having fun again in a classic!

He's ok. I'm waiting for his new vacuum advance line and his new taillight harness to arrive so I can get him on the road. I'll talk to you later, I have to go the emergancy room now.:embarrassed

Some quick pics

Here's Jack!

Does anyone know what wheels those are up front? I want to swap out the current wheels for some chrome Torque Thrusts ( I think I can get away with chrome as there's tons of chrome on this car and it would look good with the blue) at some point when I can afford it.

Michael - what did you do this time to end up in the ER? I hope everything's ok.

Thanks for the reply Judi!

BTW - a lot of nickel and dime stuff has been done already:
New chrome bumpers and trim, new upholstery, new carpet, newer but not perfect paint, freshly rebuilt 351w with an Edelbrock 44bl, new brakes and suspension (suspension seems tight and a bit squeeky at times). Overall I think a good find.:bigthumbsup

Very cool and glad you found a replacement. I am happy I did not have to fight the rust on our 66. It is a hard decision to let 1 go because it is to far gone.
351 should make that car go pretty good!

Good Luck and BE Safe

Hey Jamie! We found it in Derby, KS and paid $9,000 for it.

I think it was a fair price for what we got.

Ron - It is still sad to let the other car go but now we're giving a good home to another Stang so it's all good. Rust is evil! Yes, the 351w does move on down the road but anything feels fast to the previous 200 (which I miss working on dearly).

That's one great looking car Brett. As for what I did... I put my contacts in last night and the left one rolled up and got jammed in my eyelid. We spent all night and half of today getting it out, so I wen to the ER. They were able to get it out.

Anyway, sorry about asking this, but I'm always curious. What's going to happen to your old one? Part it out or keep the useable parts and dispose of they shell?

Ok... so no limb loss or anything...:D Don't feel bad asking about the parts. I should have said in my earlier post that we sold everything to have money to buy the new one. You got the carb though so hopefully that helps a bit.
