With Chevy officially publishing the 2017 ZL1's laptime around the Nurburgring, the Shelby is officially in trouble.
The 10-speed equipped, 650-hp Camaro ZL1 just lapped the Green Hell in 7:29.60, nearly three seconds faster than the Shelby's unofficially clocked 7:32.19.
Like the GT350R, the ZL1 uses a magical MagneRide suspension system which is constantly optimizing dampening rates, helping the supercharged 6.2L V8 lay its prodigious amounts of power down.
How much of the ZL1's time can be attributed to automatic shifting is unclear, but for certain Ford will need to raise the bar in 2018 or the Shelby risks getting left even further behind by the time the even hotter Camaro Z/28 shows up.
