Throwing it back to the original Rent-A-Racer program of the '60s Ford, Shelby and Hertz just unveiled a special run of Shelby GT-H's to be made available through the Hertz Adrenaline Collection.
“The 1966 Ford Shelby GT350-H became a legend from the moment it was introduced,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American.
“Ten years ago, the 2006 Ford Shelby GT-H earned the same ‘rock star’ status when it was introduced at the New York Auto Show. We worked closely with Ford Performance to make the 2016 Shelby GT-H the most exciting Mustang ever to wear the iconic Hertz black and gold livery.”
Like Joe said this isn't the first time Ford and Shelby have resurrected the GT-H program. A total of 500 GT-H's were built back in '06 celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original GT350H.
For it's 50th birthday bash things get even more exclusive with only 140 cars penned for production.
Ok, ok the car:
Just like before each Shelby GT-H is gold stripes over black paint. Cars also get special Hertz Edition badges, GT-H sill plates and a numbered badge.
They start with a Mustang GT and bolt on a Ford Performance cat-back exhaust and Ford Racing Handling Pack; which adds special-tuned dampers, lowering springs, sway bars and a staggered wheels.
Speaking of wheels they're 19-inch and aluminum; wrapped in hi-po Michelin rubbers.
On the outside Ford fitted a Shelby-designed, vented hood- plus a carbon fiber front splitter and rear spoiler.
Those special badges appear on the front grille, rear faux gas cap and trunk lid.
Inside, you get embroidered headrests and floor mats. Strangely Ford provided no pictures of the interior, hopefully we'll get a better look at it tomorrow in New York.
If you want one you better call Hertz ahead, like way ahead...
