I've got a silver 2009 V6 with duel black stripes (image in the link) but I can't decide on if I should get a black, or factory colored silver hood scoop. Any suggestions as to what would look best?

Thanks.

I personally like same color scoops. They look more stock than afterthought. And it seems to flow with the body better.Good luck. Also if it comes primered black, sit it on your hood and step back and imagine what it would look like before paint.
Personally I think Factory color would look best, IMO ( Unless of course it's a shaker system )

When people just throw on the plain black scoops without painting them to match looks lame. Always looks half a&& to me ..
welcome to the forums. i really like all the hoodscoops, i think they all look good. i went with a roush and like it alot but it has one issue. the little side wings on the frt, when you get it painted leaves a small bead of paint,( which i could have sanded)combined with no anchors there, in the sun just right i can see light through it. granted, no one else notices it when the hood is closed but it drives me crazy. so i picked up some black silicone sealer and i`m gonna run a small bead on the inside on each side.

tough call with your stripes, i kinda think it would look better painted like the car( ha, glad i dont have to decide on that choice :D) heres a scoop install post for the roush

Thanks for all the feedback, I still have a few weeks to make the decision.

So, there isn't anyway to put it on without drilling holes into the hood is there? lmao...

oh yes, there are scoops that just stick on with the 3m tape, but i might be hesitant to stick it onto just the stripes( unless they are painted on) i almost went with the xelon( or something like that from am) 05horse has one on his car. i like the way it looks but the reason i went with the roush( also from am) is cause i wanted one that bolted on. i actually wanted the factory scoop, but it was 300.00 unpainted. the roush was 159.00 unpainted, and also i didnt want the honeycomb filler on the factory scoop, the roush is just a flat black filler. so ya, it was a tough choice for me too, but i love my scoop. its really cool when your driving instead of the flat hood :D

I went with the xenon scoop from am..was like 90 bucks..local auto body shop painted it for 40..sticks on with about 3 miles of 3m automotive tape...had my doubts if it would hold but 6 months later and daily highway driving this thing aint goin anywhere...that 3m tape is something else...

i know, women are like that sometimes :D thats my ride home every day( back in the winter) but it does give a perspective of the hood scoop from inside the car. i know its crappy quality, cheap camera, and i had the window cracked open, so alot of wind noise. my g/f used to laugh at me for watching exhaust videos :grinroll:

My opinion...Factory paint it...re-stripe over it ...would look nasty comin down the road:bigthumbsup

Hi Mike, not to hijack this thread but I have the same gap issue with my scoop, and it`s driving me mad (OCD)
My scoop looks almost identical to yours but it`s an AM prepainted unit, not sure what the differences are.
I`ll try sanding down the leading edges a little to try to get a more uniform fit along the hood line.
Hoping the 3M tape will not give me too much grief. I`ll let you know how I made out.
Here is my stang with the stripes and scoop. Our cars are similiar in color but mine is with the satin stripe. Mine was painted the same as the car. Hope this helps.

man that looks cool, thats a big scoop :) but i like all the scoops :gringreen
I had my hood scoop painted Hot Rod black to match my Rockers and chin spoiler. I think it all depend on the theme you're going for. If I had stripes, imo, i'd paint the scoop your body color and just strip over them, like someone else said.

lasracin, Is that the hood scoop that Ford makes in aluminum? For the Cobra Jet? Kind of looks like the B9
It is a 2008 Cobra Jet Hood Scoop. The part number is M-1660-CJ and it is aluminum. I can not remeber what I paid right off hand for it but it was over $400.

It came unfinished and I was wanting to add the stripes so, I did it all at once. The stripes on my car are painted rather than vinyl. I do like the scoop but at times, it looks too big. Guess it depends what mood I am in.

To be honest, I have always liked having something no one else has. I have always been different like that.
I have Cervini's b9 and it's pretty similar in dimensions. I pushed the scoop back a bit so it doesn't seem as big. Only downside is I need to relocate the windshield nozzles. Do you have any more pics? You hardly ever see that hood scoop anywhere.
The only issues I have with it is I wish it was a little more rigid. When I am driving only 70 down the interstate, the top of the scoop is shaking pretty good. Also, the scoop does not properly curve with the hood. Other than that, I like it.

My spacing is around one inch from the nozzles and centered. Is yours bolt-on or 3M?

I agree, you do not see a lot of them, which is why I got it. However, I wish at times that it was smaller and not as boxed.

I should also add that the design that I have is different than what is offered now. I was told that people were losing them, which is what prmopted the design change. And with it, they also fixed some of the issues I discussed earlier.
