I went to Mark's Classic Cruise Night....they had about 630 cars there. They have it every Monday evening. First time I have ever gone....all kinds of cars, antique to late models. It was Mopar Night....lol. So I did get to see some of the new Dodge Challengers up close for the first time....very nice looking car. But it's hard to believe they are all autos and you can't get them with a stick.

Anyway....I was parked next to a black Porsche Boxster...very nice car. But I noticed when people walked past our row most of them did the walk around on my Mustang and not the Porsche.

Mustang styling, especially the S197s, are truly eye catchers...even against cars that cost nearly twice as much.

1+ on that, and the other funny thing, at my local cruiz in- most people didn't pay a second glance to the stock GT500 next to me, and did circles around my 4.0 that I have modded. It all boils down to originality I think, and the mustang platform has soo many possibilities, but a porche is a porche. (nice cars, but once you seen one, youve pretty much seen em all) Was the porche modded at all? is your stang? if the answer is yes, your stang is modded, that is the key issue here, because most people don't want to see a car that is stock if it literally just rolled off the production line, but if you mod it, THEN they want to check it out. Just curious if you have mods.
you can get a new challenger with a stick it was only the first year of the srt8s that were only auto. I can fully see why a Porsche Boxster would be passed up for a mustang if you were sitting next to a GT2 probably a different story for most but id still rather look at the modded out american muscle car :bigthumbsup
ehem, can I post my opinion here? I dont like the s197s . I like my fox. But not trying to beat down your car man, just using my 1st amendment.

Awwwww isn't that sweet, a fox guy thinks we don't like him. Most of us came from Fox platforms, and have owned them in the past, and were only jaded when the s197 came out. I bet if you poll most s197 guys, they didn't like anything from 93 until 2005, and that is when they came back to life! (again I said MOST so don't crusify me here gents) We are brethren, and I see no reason for you to feel like you need to stay silent. I love the fox, (here is a wierid fact, I like the FOX CAPRI platform the most!!!!!) guess I am the outsider here right??? naaaaaa .

And here is my exercise in the 1st amendment. The s197 Mustangs are the best looking Mustangs since the 60s and 70s true muscle car era Stangs. I like all Mustangs pretty much but there were a couple of production years that were just plain ugly, in my opinion. A couple of years on the Fox body platform actually resembled Chrysler K Cars...it doesn't get any more hideous than that. And the Mustang II needs no comment, although I have seen some nice looking ones at car shows. Some of the production years the cars didn't even resemble a Mustang....see the K Car reference above.

So that is my counter-point.

If you're gonna make a comment like that you need to post some pics. That little thumbnail isn't sufficient. :shiny:

I don't dislike you. I owned my '87 Fox bodied GT for 14 years. I had no desire to own a '94 thru '04 styled Fox body... too swoopy and or edgy. But, when the '05s came out I just had to have one. :bigthumbsup

Lest we all forget, if it were NOT for the Mustang II, we would not be talking about this at all. If memory serves, the Mustang II outsold Camaro and Firebird (as well as outselling the uber sized '71-'73 model) while keeping the Mustang name plate alive! To paraphase a saying... There (death of the Camaro/Firebird) but for the grace of the Mustang II go us. ;)

Wal-Mart also has more sales than a specialty men's clothing store....but I ain't buying MY clothes there....lol.

Hey FuzzyDice,
Was there last night also, great turn out. Your car looked great the car really shined!! I was in the front row with my 05 Black GT ,the one with the Saleen SC.
As the great debate goes on about fox,sn95 and s197's .Everone has their favorites. Never owned a Mustang until this one. First time I drove one in Oct of 04 I know that this was the one for me. Styling, handling, power it's got it all for a reasonable price. I figure with the blower and all the other mod I have i'm only into it for 40 grand. and with the exception of a Z06 I can hold my own with most any cars the road these days. Some kid in a ricer on the way home on RT 20 found out the hard way.
Anyway I'm over in Vernon, If your into Mustangs check out our Club Late Model Mustang Club of Connecticut. Great bunch of guys and gals.

I've been a Club Member of LMMC-CT for 3 years now. And speaking of events, this weekend is going to be great. There is an All-American Muscle show at Flood Ford in Narragansett, RI that I plan to go to. Then there is the Spring Roundup show at Mustangs Unlimited on Sunday which I also plan to go to.
People know CLASS when they see it.........:happyhapp
You're right. People love Mustangs.
They actually made mustangs in '71-'84 and '94-'04? I didn't notice;). I must have missed that.....I be damn'ed.....J/K.
None of you guys like me anyway, that's pretty clear.
So I'll just shut up and remain silent.
Say what? You came in the 2005+ talk section and posted that you don't like S197 Mustangs, but instead of being ridiculed or flamed you got reasonable responses from several people. Sure wasn't any evidence shown that people here don't like you (although I'm having some second thoughts about you now).

Anyway, in another thread I advised you to use two coats when you painted a photograph you had. Did the two coats cover it okay?

I'm with Fuzzy on this. The Fox-body styling (or lack thereof) drove me to buy Fiero GTs in the '80s.
They actually made mustangs in '94-'04? I didn't notice.
I've read that most people loved the change to the curvey '94 model year Mustang styling after more than a decade of the boxy Fox-bodies. And some people like the new edge Mustangs even more than the S197.
I am actually getting alot of compliments lately about my car and it's looks. Even a guy driving an early 2000's Benz SL500 said my car was beautiful.:bigthumbsup I do like Porsche's though. I wouldn't mind owning an early '90s 911 some day. I probably would have been the one to take the walk around on both cars.:gringreen
My older brother-in-law drives around a 2006 Benz CLK500 and he says that he likes my stang better than my dad's even though my dad has an '05 GT. Maybe it's the fact that I keep mine cleaner than my dad keeps his...:scratchchin

Gary, it is so true... there is a BMW, Range Rover & Hummer in our lot at work and what car do they always ask who owns it? Yup - the Mustang!! :hihi:

You're right. People love Mustangs.
You're right - but the one thing that really puts a huge smile on my face is seeing little kids reactions when they see our cars - The parents are oblivious - but it's that wave from the tiny person in the stroller that makes my day... :bigthumbsup

BTW - Parades are so much fun if you haven't done one... :gringreen :bigthumbsup
