Hi, long time no see!

As some of you might know, I moved back to my home country, Norway, a year and a half ago, leaving my Mustang behind in Florida. I have been over a few times and driven it, and I plan on moving back to Florida fall of 2014. When I was over there in June this year I drove it around, and one night I stopped along a backroad to just enjoy the nice weather and gaze upon the stars. After a few minutes I started hearing this weird, constant ticking noise as my engine was rumbling along on idle. I popped the hood and tried to locate the sound, but it was hard to pinpoint exactly, besides that it is coming from the intake area. My first thought was the air filter, but it should not make a sound like that if the air filter was dirty. Below I am attaching a link to a video of the sound, and as you can see it stops when I rev the engine slightly at about 18 seconds, but it comes back after a few seconds at idle. I have checked the IAC and it seems to be fine, do you guys have any clue what it might be? Also, at 23 seconds you can see that one of the PCV hoses running from the plenum to the passenger side valve cover has collapsed, but I am quite certain that would not cause this problem. I am currently in Norway, but am going over for a few weeks this Christmas break and would like to get it fixed then so the car will be in tip-top shape when I move back and will be driving it daily in 8 months.

The tapping I hear after you touched the throttle at 0:20 sounds like the injectors.

Potatophone? I think I wouldn't mind having one of those, lol. If a cop pulled me over for being on the phone, I could just grab the potato out of the cupholder and be like, "What phone, officer?" haha

Sorry if I didn't specify, I was talking about the ticking sound at idle before I touched the throttle. It's not present all the time, only once in a while. When you mention it, I didn't notice the tapping after I touched the throttle before you pointed it out! :shigrin

Yeah, I'm really glad I didn't sell it after all! I did put it up for sale on Autotrader, but they messed up and it got deleted, so I just said eff it.

Change that hose at the plenum (i had the same problem 2 days ago), it will cause bad idle, and poor fuel economy, and it could be the cause of the tic.

I thought it might be the problem, but I have a hard time understanding why it would make a tick like that, as it is only a vacuum hose for the valve cover. I plan on changing the hose and the air filter when I go over there, I just figured it would be worth a shot asking on here just to be on the safe side! The last thing I want is to be stranded along a highway hours from home because of a problem :shigrin

Alright, so I went to Autozone last night and all they had was a 1/2" heater hose elbow, so I figured I'd give it a try even though it is not a vacuum hose. It fixed my problem for the first drive, but this morning it was back, popped the hood, and saw it had collapsed from the vacuum. The old hose broke when I was removing it, as it was all dried up from 10 years on the car. I have looked around, but neither NAPA or Advanced Auto Parts has it. NAPA does have a few PCV elbows, but they are not 1/2" --> 1/2", they are either 1/4" --> 1/4", or 1/2" --> 3/4", so that won't help me. I went to Ford, but they wanted 48 dollars for the part. That is outrageous for a small PCV elbow like that. Does anyone else know where I can get a 1/2" vacuum PCV elbow that does not cost $50?

After another hour of research I found this. A complete Ford OEM PCV Valve-to-Upper Intake Hose for $35, so I decided to go ahead and order it.
