Timing Cover / Dip Stick

I am re-posting since I originally had it in the Lounge.

I am building a 1979 351W for my 1969 Mustang. The timimg cover that came with the motor does not have the hole for the oil dipstick. What is the proper size to drill the cover to accommodate the dipstick?

Any input would be appreciated.

Hello.:)I'm assuming that you have some precision measuring tools like micrometers or dial calipers since you are building the motor. If it was me, I'd just measure the end of the dipstick tube and drill the cover a couple of thousandths smaller than what I measured and peck the tube into the cover with a hammer then blow it out real well with compressed air to get rid of any metal particles my hammering had scraped loose.Hope that helps.:)
