I just finished building a new late model 331 for my 67 (Short block up) I took it to a ford mechanic to go through it before I put many miles on it. He was concerned that there is a noise coming from inside the timing cover. He suggested that I have the wrong one and it may be grinding. Also the set up does not allow me to add a timing pointer so he had problems setting the timing. I used a 289 timing cover because it will take a mechanical fuel pump. Can anyone tell me if this is ok and that the timing cover should fit without any rubbing. If I were to do as he suggests the water pump would come out of the drivers side and the radiator hose would also be on the wrong side.
Thanks
