Tire Life & Great Gas Mileage

On trip to Delhi, NY this past weekend my GT achieved 29.4 mpg cruising at 65 mph. About half of the 200+ mile trip was in the mountains. My GT is running a Bama 87S custom tune.

My 2011 GT just turned 43,000 miles and all 4 of its Pirelli P Zeros are wornout. New P Zeros cost me $169 each.

Bobby-Thanks for taking the time to post this up! I always get really excited when I hear Bama's customers talk about their fuel consumption...and then I start to think what in the world am I doing wrong with my car when I get half that! I like to drive spiritedly! :heha:What size -Zeros are you looking into? I'm happy to have a quote set up for you!

you mean you constantly speed up, slow down, then floor it to speed up again when driving on the highway? huh.gif:heha:

Bobby, glad to see someone is getting good mileage from those coyotes!

AMAlexLazarus,
I bought the new P Zeros from my Ford dealer.

With an occasional pedal to the metal, my GT consistently gets 20 to 21 mpg for Long Island country driving.

Sounds about right for 400 treadwear-rated tires, very few or no burnouts, inflated and aligned to suit the car's principal driver and how he/she drives.

I get 26-29 on the highway 70-80mph and 16-20 in town. I like to throttle the car some in town.
2013 base GT Brembo package 9k miles. Only mod is axle back mufflers.
Pirelli P Zeros are rated as 45,000 mile tires, so replacing them at 43,000 miles is reasonable with some spirited driving.
I think the P zero tires suck. Mine have 10,500 miles on them and have been rotated twice and they are terribly loud to the point that I can hardly stand to drive the car with the windows up. I won't be buying them again and am thinking of replacing them soon.

Mine will be done at 20K miles, and I don't burn out (detectably) either, I'm sure the car tears tires up on it's own. I also live in the mountains and corner hard in all my cars. My BOSS has dialed in at it's best, 26 mpg, that's it, can't squeeze any more out of it. My '04 Corvette however bested 32 mpg on a trip to Florida, INCREDIBLE!

Toe in causes the summer max performance tires to eat the inside corners quickly which will increase road noise. Rotational tires keeps the wear on one side. I am on my second set of tires, first being the stock P-Zeros and the second being BFGoodrich Comp 2. 20K miles and the inside of the tires was worn quickly.

I rotate the tires every 5K miles, they are filled with N2 and I get an alignment every 5K miles. I have been able to stretch the Comp 2s a little longer and may make 30K miles.

Tire expert recommends an all season radial as opposed to max summer. Suspension expert recommends selling the car. facepalm2.gif

very nice. Best I've gotten is 28 point something on a trip from IE to bakersfield. sorry. i'm looking for a thread that talks about when to change auto transmission and filter on a 2012 gt. can't find one. can someone plz direct me if they know of one. i don't want to start a new one. thanks
At 1750, about 57 mph, my 2012 Brembo 3.73 geared car gets 31-32 mpg. Checked on a 500 mile trip. I do not drive it like that as a rule, just wanted to see what it would do. Normally gets 22 overall. Just got a Maggie SC on the car today! I expect the fuel consumption to rise because of the fun factor. It came with P Zeros, they lasted about 13k. Junk. Now I gotta do some suspension/wheel changes for traction. Any suggestions?
