I have a 89 GT with 17 inch x 9 detroit rims. What size tire will fit well and look exceptional? Any tire brand to consider? Im going street, not really concerned too much with drag racing

I have 17x9's on my car which is lowered 2" and I run 245/45/17's on it...tried 255/45/17's but are to large for the front. As far as tires go, I'd stay away from Good Years...check out Michelin Pilot Sports(a ton ofmoney though), Kumho makes some nice tires ata decent price, and a buddy of mine with a cobra has Yokohama;s that look alot like the pilot sports, and they hook and corner great.

245/45/17 on the front and flip quad shocks and run 275/40/17s on the back. Or if you want to be able to rotate them the 245s all the way around.
