So i read in multiple acclaimed blogs that for the 2011 mustang, ford is going to bring back the 5 Liter engine back, which is going to havean estimated power of about 400 horses, and even the v6 is going to get the ecoboost to produce about 315 horses.

heres the link for one of the blogs
2011 Ford Mustang Gets 315 HP V6, 5.0-Liter "Coyote" V8, Six-Speed Gearbox - 2011 Ford Mustang - Jalopnik

assuming this is true, what would be your initial reaction to this? since you have already purchased a 2010 mustang

The v6 is not going to be an ecoboost. It's a direct injection high compression 3.7 N/A v6
it would figure since i just bought a 2010 V6
just so you know, i would be fricken mad.

yeah but i bet the 2011's will cost an arm and a leg......like 35-40 plus.....
i doubt it

i mean is not like everytime they add power they increase the price. they increase the price because of the current economic market, fluctuation, etc, i say roughly like a couple k more

if the base gt is priced at 27 965 right now, i would expect it to be 29 495 or something like that, just look at the camaro, its priced at the same level as the mustang, yet it currently has substantially more power

I thought Ford said they were only going to make 50 limited edition GTs with the 5.0 and it is offered anywhere else as a $34K race engine. You can get that now, if you want it.

Here.

If it's a normally aspirated 5.0 and it's making 500hp, my money is on it making in the neighborhood of 350-400lbs.ft. of tq. Pass.

Yea i remember something not to long ago about releasing 50 "race only" 5.0 mustangs @ 400 horse. Race only being that they had serial numbers in place of vin numbers.

Poking at the engine list...

You can buy a 2010 5.0 Mustang now if you have $80,000. Ford put out 50 Boss 302R models:

34k is a little insane for just an engine, considering that you could buy an 03/04 cobra for around half the price, and still have a 390 hp engine, + the car
Givantsbluebaby... Just an engine?

Your lack of knowledge is astounding, considering complete write ups of the 2011 in these threads... but whatever.

Prove to me I can buy a 03/04 Cobra with zero miles on it and a full factory warranty and you have at least one point.

Prove to me that a zero mileage 03/04 Cobra with a full factory warranty can run 87 octane gas and you'll have another.

Then again, since a new Mustang in '64 was $2500 and 8 years later roughly $3,000 (more than a 20% increase!) while new Cobra's listed for $34,750 (a new 2011 lists LESS than a brand new Cobra EIGHT YEARS AGO), you're coming across as a muffin head.

I'm just sayin' :winks

Does it really matter, still a V-6... and they have such awful gearing in the 2011 that it wont be that fast... remember gas mileage is one of their biggest concerns on the sixer not being quick like the GT. two different needs/ purposes.

You wont be seeing me sell my car, if anything youll see a wave of teenagers thinking they can beat the older GT's cause of HP numbers... theyll be sadly mistaken

...that's why I never buy new.
...that's why I'll have my 2012 5.0 GT on 2014.

Also, I don't buy new because the money I save goes to the mod fund.

No offense intended to those who buy new.
If nobody buys new, then where would the used cars come from?

This remind's me of the change of 04 to 05, maybe not as much Hp difference but similar? It sure showed some powerful < 04 cars out there and I see the 11 will bring out the same. Going to be fun! :)

i was talking about the link that someone in the thread posted... Ford racing has a 5.0 engine on stock for 34k not the car... just the engine.. i wasnt talking about the new Gts. i will definitely buy a 2011+ GT. but I was referring to an engine no the facts

That sounds like the 5.0 Cammer used in the FR500C. Not something you can run on the street. Race cars aren't cheap! :nogrinner

i know making my, but this guy is trying to tell me how i am a dumbass for talking about buying an 03/04 cobra for 17k instead of the 35 thousand dollar 5.o engine that makes approximately the same horsepower. Yeah you can do a lot of upgrade to the race engine, and ultimately have it pumping 1000 horses. I mean he didnt even know what i was referring too, and he is calling me a "muffin head"
