Car: 1999 Ford Mustang; automatic trans; 3.8L

I just replaced the transmission pan on my mustang, and filled it with 9 quarts of transmission fluid (I didnt drain the toque converter because I didn't change the fluid because it was bad, only because I got a new pan) After the 9th quart, I seen tranny fluid coming from the pan.

My question is there some type of over fill leak? or is this because of a leak in my transmission pan. The pan does not leak anymore, only after the 9th quart.

most oem trans pans on a regular car hold between 4-5 qts, biggest one i've personally seen is about 6 qts. all the 4r70w's ive changed fluid on take about 4.5 qts.

you're waaaay over.

they assumed you would be doing a complete fluid change, not just whats in the pan.
