Touch Up Paint advice

1599 Views 9 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Stoenr
I have a couple of scratches on my left door and rear quarter panel, Body shop would have to paint both panels (which ends up costing a lot of money) and I was wondering if touch up paint actually works, and if you do use it, where'd you get it from? Thanks

Duplacolor has a kit that has everything you need. You can try your local auto parts store or order it on line from Duplacolor.
Unfortunately, I have never seen a paint touch up that has looked good. I would just leave the scratches.
Go to the ford dealer parts dep. then get the langka repair kit.You will be amazed.
You will need your color code Screaming yellow D-6.

Depending on how bad the scratch is and if it is not down to metal, true, especially if you've been keyed. Best left to the pros but can be expensive.

Small scratches and chips can be touched up pretty well with a steady hand and the right technique. Just clean out the scratch, touch it up in layers until higher than good paint. Let it dry a day, bend a razor blade into a slight U and shave away the excess, wet sand with 1500 or higher, then compound and wax.
Just ordered it from Expresspaint.com cost 35 with shipping so we will see how it works out I got the base and the clear coat Ill let you know in about a week how it turns out.
