the lockout is broken. a tech probably bound it up and broke it.
2nd gear not drive

i also noticed that when it does lock it says it is in D but it is really 2nd gear not drive.ALSO noticed after having new brake shoes put on my rims, brakes r getting hot can't place hand on the rim hot..

the parking brake probably isn't adjusted correctly either.

Take it back to the shop that worked on it, or, if you can afford it, take it to a dealer, and have the car fixed correctly for less headaches.

Some small shops will damage things purposefully to keep you coming back, again and again . . . Not ALL small shops, and if you find a good one, that's super - i got a lot of referrals to a great shop in fayetteville that did great work . . .

but another shop tried telling me I needed all new calipers, etc., not knowing I know how to work on and fix cars . . . I played dumb, and took it to the dealer, who confirmed I just needed pads. (I couldn't work on my car in my apartment complex).

But all of that going wrong after 1 visit, to me, means something's up.
i wouldnt know why but it sounds to me like they messed with your shifter cable ....and its suposed to go from n to drive without pushing the button

That doesn't make any sense - Why they would be messing around with your transmission cables while changing your brakes?

Sounds kind of fishy if you ask me...
bad thing is i had the brakes done at the ford comapny ... that is the only place i will take it ... even though it gets hard on the check book .. but iat least i know it is done right but my brakes r still getting hot too :sosad:
