Hi! I have a 2002 V6 Mustang with about 50,000 miles. Im looking for advice on whether to flush transmission fluid or just replace filter and top off.
One automotive place told me its 'dirty' and needed done. Hmmmm do I trust them? Im sure it probably needs 'something' at this stage of its life, just not sure what.
Can someone give me some good advice??

yeah, i'd go ahead and just flush it.

although... keeping up on fluid & filter changes throughout the life of the car (every ~30k) is just as good, if not better, than a trans flush every 50k.

just an honest mechanic's opinion. no bullsh**.

Welcome to AFM.
Definitley flush all that old transmission fluid out of there and
refill it with new ATF and a new transmission filter.
Transmission fluid breaks down and wears out over time.I
change my transmission fluid every 30K with a good quality
ATF.I use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF every time I change it.
I highly recommend using a good quality synthetic ATF like Mobil 1.
If you leave old dirty transmission fluid in your transmission for
a long period of time it can and will ruin your transmission or
cause unnesseary premature wear on your transmission.
