I have a 1965 with a 289 attached to a C4 transmission. I just rebuilt the engine and at the same time had the tranny sent out to have it rebuilt. I Just started the engine for the first time and let it run for thirty minutes in the garage for engine break in. at shut down I noticed that I am leaking trans fluid through the flywheel inspection plate. What could be the cause of this? is the seal between the tranny and torque converter leaking? I dont know much of anything when it comes to transmissions, is this a problem that I can drive with in order to get it back to the guy that rebuilt the transmission? any help would be appreciated.

If you're sure it's trans fluid your choices are: Torque converter seal, Front pump gasket, Possible that a pump bolt is leaking through the threads, Converter drain plug ( hopefully), or cracks around the converter studs. That's about all that's in there. Driving it depends on how far and how bad the leak is. You don't want to burn it up. Best of luck
