Hey all I have been looking at Tremec tranny's, and was sold on the TKO 500 or 600 until someone told me that they are "Notchy", and not always easy to get into gear. Anyone have one of these tranny's to either confirm or disprove this?

Right now I'm running 420+hp and 413 ft/lbs or torque, but building a 347 stroker and aiming for 500hp...so my built T5 isnt going to stand up to that, which has me looking at new tranny's.

Any help would be appreciated!

The TKO 600 has been improved and it is less noisy and notchy than the 500.

I have driven several stangs with TKOs and in my opinion both the noise and notchiness are not that bad. A bit of insulation in the trans tunnel helps reduce the noise. And notchiness is reduced with a good aftermarket shifter.

the 3550 has been replaced by the 500/600.
