Hey! I'm Sheila and I'm on my 6th Stang. I'm in a debate with someone and I need to know if I'm right. What was the last year for a 5.0 Stang??

95 was the last year the 5.0 was used in the stangs
and 1993 was the last to have the emblem
or the fox body style :worship
Hi Sheila, the Guys above are correct, 1995 was the last year of the 5.0 in a Mustang. The Pistons changed in late 1992 from Forged to Hypers, a pretty foolproof way to tell is by the color of your oil pan. If its Silver you have Forged and if its Black you have Hypers.

I was refering to the Engines being completely different, it was actually 350 Cubic Inches in the past and then was COMPLETELY redesigned in LS1 form, nothing but a gasket is compatable with the prior Engines. I still think you were trying to say you wished Ford stayed with a pushrod engine!

WOW the GM 350 has ALWAYS been 347 cubic inches... Although there was a redesign GM DID NOT change the bore and stroke of that motor... But actually I am glad Ford moved on to the mod motors they are really nice... Smooth and pulled insanely high in the RPM's great sound too! Just wonder what might have been you know if Ford sunk all the technology they have in the mod motors into the old pushrod types... Guess we will never know though.
Sorry to disappoint you, but that Engine design for the LS1 is COMPLETELY different from reverse coolant flow to displacement. If you look at this link it will clearly show you that the old 350 has a bore/stroke of 4.0 x 3.48. The new 346 which I thought was 347 has a bore/stroke combo of 3.90 x 3.622. Not the same at all!!! I had an 02 GT and it did pull up high, but I like the low end grunt of my 5.0 a little better. Drove a Mach 1 and like it as it had some low end grunt and it would rev too.

But I will tell you what... I will sell you a killer set of glowplugs for the 350 Chevy or a really sweet Thermostat and some radiator fluid for a VW Bug maybe even some muffler bearings... :winks How about a good 710 cap...
Not irritated, was just trying to go with facts. Hope you never took me wrong as I wasnt trying to be a PITA, LOL! I think I will pass on the Muffler Bearings, plus I dont plan on converting my VW to watercooled anytime soon! Take Care!

well just to add input you ask when was the last year of the 5.0 made most people covered that but its not really a 5.0 its more like a 4.9 since all these people do all these mathmatical stuff figure that one out. Ford just rounded it off cause 5.0 would sound cooler maybe thats why vanilla ice said it. rollin in my 5.0 rag top down so my hair can blow etc. Its a 4.9 302 cubic inches 305 cubic inches is a 5.0. who cares about liters anyway isnt this america? i thought they were suppose to convert everything all those years ago to the metric system but they still use the old one. Who really cares is a mustang with a motor. Next post ill see is about horepower numbers, horsepower aint $hit without torque remember that.
heh, we're a bunch of nerds huh :dunce:, read back on this thread, you'll get a kick out of it, we turned a simple question into 2 pages of information on the motor, and that was one of the coolest, yet, usless things i ever heard, i checked my oil pan and shaker was right, HAHAHA thanks for that complely usless, but cool bit of info, haha :worship
