True delta.com is now reporting the 2011 Mustang is the most problematic model year since they began collecting data in 2005.

They show an average of 38 trips per year for a major repair per 100 vehicles. More disturbing is the average milage is 6200 for a major repair.

For comparison, the 2007 Mustang was 8 major repairs per 100 vehicles at an average milage of 28,000.

Average milage before major repair - Ford Mustang:

2005: 60,700
2006: 42,800
2007: 28,300
2008: 21,800
2010: 12,800
2011: 6,200

i hope they fix these problems with these cars soon, but is to be expected with a new model engine and body style. still loving the car though, even with all the problems that are occurring.

I suspect your good fortune is a result of selecting the automatic. Smart move!!!

Yea, sadly I'm going to guess this is mostly due to the MT-82 issues. 6500+ trouble free miles on my Auto GT here.

And, predictably, the zero integrity fanboy apologists flock to another thread proving these cars have major problems, and attack the OP rather then admit the information he is presenting is valid. The fact that this thread is 100% indisputable scientific fact had no impact on your responses whatsoever, did it?

Does TrueDelta have a statistically significant sample pool? Has peer review of the results been performed? Have the results been independently verified? Have controls been established?

TrueDelta is a useful tool and offers insight into a specific area of vehicle ownership, but to call it 100% indisputable and scientific fact is outlandish, as it is neither.

The 2011 is a completely new drivetrain; history has shown (with 100% accuracy and scientific fact) that first model years of new drivetrains over almost all vehicles have had more issues than other years.

The site collects and utilizes 'real-world' repair rates from regular survey data supplied by its user base. The site is one of a few services to utilize statistical analysis to report this data. The site then updates the results quarterly. With this frequency, information on new models will be at most 3 months old, making it possible for these models to be closely tracked as they age.

TrueDelta.com was developed in 2004 by Dr. Michael Karesh, an expert in consumer behavior. For his PhD Thesis, Karesh studied within General Motors for a year and half, researching how well they understood consumers when developing new products. For his Masters thesis, Karesh did work with early research in consumer behavior. Additionally Karesh has written and published much on cars. He has been a contributor to the car review site The Truth About Cars, and is one of the category leads for the Epinions.com auto section.

TrueDelta's data collection methodology differs form other publications such as Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports compiles data from reader surveys once annually while Truedelta.com takes monthly surveys and issues quarterly reports.

Its far from scientific fact, its not a scientific survey, hell its not even a random off the wall survey. It only pertains to people who sign up and respond to their emails issued by that site.

The BMW M3 data is just as interesting...

Average milage before major repair:

2005: 53,200
2008: 20,000
2009: 15,100
2010: 11,700
2011: 6,300

2011 M3 shows an average of 39 trips per year for a major repair per 100 vehicles.

some of you guys really are pathetic, and jmatero is not included in that list.

The first major repair to my car was at 357 miles, with a blown up rear end.

Well it's time to sell my mustang cuz let's face it all 2011+ mustangs are doomed to fail. This 100% scientific study proves it. We all know everything on the Internet is true.

BTW anyone who expects any ANY! mechanical/electric device to always be 100% fail proof is a damn fool. In a few years there will be no 2011/2012s on the road tru story.

I'm amazed I've gone 6k miles in mine just amazed!!!

We're not expecting our Mustangs to be 100% We do, however, expect to be able to shift our cars and not need transmission replacements before, say, 150,000 miles.

And nobody has suggested that they will all fail but considering the track record here, I'd be concerned about Ford not acknowledging the issue or providing a fix after 1.5 years of consistent complaints.

It already is ****** man I got a MT-82!!! It's almost winter I have no hope.

You must realize that for every shiity mustang post must be countered with a good mustang post.

What was Jmatero trying to accomplish with this statistical info? Inform more ppl to not buy mustangs??? To make his situation better so ppl agree with him? It's like if I go on a Mac forum and post how it cost 2x as much as a pc so you should get a pc. The 2011's are flawed to hell so you better look else were for a new car.
I couldn't disagree more with your assessment of the situation.

EDIT: sry if I sound like a retard here. It's just I don't understand the point of posting all this hate on the stang. Get a new car and move on.
It's not hate for the Mustang. It's posting data to help perspective owners make informed decisions. True Delta, JD Power, Consumer Reports, every Mustang Forum... they're ALL nonsense?

I apologize for the hate. I'm just one consumer with no issues I hold very little weight. No sarcasm is meant here.

They're nonsense unless compared to other vehicles. The 2011 Mustang rates higher than 2011 BMWs and Audis as far as reliability on true delta. Cherry picking data without showing the entire picture makes people wonder if you have a crusade against the car.

He has no crusade against the Mustang. He is known as the person that have a crusade against any car he owns. He will find problems with any car he owns and he will set out to trash it in every imaginable forums. Please let him whine and rant for a few more month? years? Eventually he will leave and go buy another car and troll that forum. He will be missed.

Whole new breed of Pony. It's to be expected. Perhaps not to the extent it's been experienced, but still expected. I imagine the next major overhaul of Mustang technology will bring its fair share of headaches as well. At least they haven't scrapped the line over the growing pains.
