I purchased a new 05 GT last month.

Everything has been perfect.

Recently I noticed that the trunk lid (on the left side) does not fit flush with the car when closed. The right side of the trunk lid does fit flush. The left side is raised about 3-4mm when closed - it's not real obvious, that's why I didn't notice it at the dealer.

It's obviously a manufacturing flaw and I think Ford should fix it for free.

What do you think?

It doesn't look like an easy fix. It seems that basically something is out of alignment, perhaps the left hinge or may be something else.

I agree - your dealer should take care of this - no questions. I just noticed this morning ('05 GT) that my driver's seat leans in toward the centerline of the car (on a flat surface of course). I checked it at a few different seat heights. Have you noticed this on yours - or is mine just a fluke?

I haven't checked my seat yet.

However, I'm sure there will be other's with various problems. However, a 4mm gap in the trunk lid is not acceptable.

I'm not expecting aerospace tolerances here (+/- 0.001 mm). But being off by almost 1/2 centimeter is just sloppy manufacturing. You won't find such flaws on a BMW that's for sure.

I've included picture that I took:

Yeah - that's off pretty far. They can probably realign by adjusting the hinge/bracket.
