hey guys i went with a buddy last night to pick up a 88 5.0 gt. its really nice. but i was talking to the guys about my car and how i wanna make it faster and everything and the guy said to by the typhoon intake..just the intake alone. it was $529.99 in the mag he had. anyways the guy was telling me that alone is 135hp with a 70MM T/B...i just kinda acted surprised and went along with it but the entire time im thinking in my head there is no way it can add that much power...am i right or wrong here? he also said the Cobra intake is stock its just looks. thats not true either is it?

Now way that an intake and TB alone will add that kinda HP. The Cobra is a stock style intake, but it has more capabilities than a stock 5.0 intake.

I suggest you find some new buddy's. Or tell them to Prove it.

haha. i just met the guys last night they said the 5.0 gt has gt40 lower intake B303 cam 1 5/8 headers aftermarket h pipe and cat back msd ignition but no box and they said its got over 300hp. i didnt really beleive them but i just wasnt sure

If you have stock heads, that cam isnt really doing much of anything besides sounding good. The intake manifolds will give you a little kick and so will the headers ect. but with stock heads and no nitrous you are under 300hp. The car has 225hp stock and that isnt to the wheels. You have a good start to get you there but untill you put some heads on you aint going to get over 300hp very easily without using nitrous or some other forced induction. Sorry man

the typhoon is a pretty good intake, but not 135 h.p. if was that good they couldn't make enough of them to sell to everybody! :bigthumbsup

The only that TB & intake will add a 135 HP to any motor is.....

It won't......

the cobra intake is a far better intake compared to stock due to it flow capacity its most certainly more than a pretty face.....

There are always people out there that are going to try and sound like they know more than anybody else.

I had a garage sale the other day and this older guy pulled over in a old Super Coupe. He saw I had a Mustang so we started talking cars. He told me his supercharged Thunderbird was making over 1000 HP. When I asked him who tuned his computer he stammered all over the place and couldn't come up with a name. He left after that.

I know you can't be confrontational all the time but every now and then it feels good to catch somebody in their own tangle of lies.

135 hp from a Typhoon intake and 70mm throttle body... I'll add that to the "I've heard it all now" list.

And the Cobra intake is a stock intake, it's just looks? :grinroll: That's another on the list.

Almost anything is better than the stock heads and intake...

I had a friend that acted like he knew EVERYTHING about cars. He would say some of the most outrageous things I've heard. So what I did was play the "stupid card" and let him build up his lies, then catch him trying to say the same outrageous stuff and call him on it. It was hillarious watching him stutter and mumble trying to dig himself out of that deep hole.
