so i live in central ohio... and the city literally just dumps the salt alll over the road... and i hear salt is one of the main causes of rust... so (since my stang is my daily driver all year long) should i have it undercoated?? does it actually protect? how much does it usually cost? and what kind of places do this?

any advice?

I checked in2 this last spring b4 tornado came thru, but my 02 GT/Cobra clone project was destroyed in that storm. Anyway, I that 3M has a awesome undercoating, my mechanic was gonna put it on. The cost was decent, & it's the best out there. That is. according to my research on it. I was getting the undercoating due to rust & my car was from Biloxi, Miss as well. Just google 3M automobile undercoating products & C what ya think!!!!:yup:

It’s been a lot of years but the stuff I tried didn’t seal worth a damn. In fact if anything it seemed to hold moisture in once it got through, found lots of rust underneath the undercoating after a while. Don’t know about the 3M, like I said, it’s been awhile, it may be decent though.

Most undercoating I've seen seems to peel eventually.

What really works is to paint with a rust preventative paint like POR or an Eastwood product as would be done for a restoration.
