I am looking to get some underdrive pulleys for my 4.0. My question how is it possible that we underdrive the accessories and there are no downsides?

Doesn't it have to make the A/C run a little weaker and generate less power with the alternator? If there really were no downsides wouldn't Ford just use a smaller pulley?

Also the pulley I found claims 16HP boost and 12 ftlbs torque. Is that reasonable?

i imagine those number are inflated... I would guess like 1-5 hp or tq because your just slowing things down...
and they don't make it smaller cause they have to sell the car all over the country/world at different sea levels and climates so they probably figure what ever it running out now is the best speed as to not have problems when your in rough weather...
