i would imagine once you get the cams in the LTs would make a little bit of difference i mean hell if you already have the rest of the bolt ons it sure can hurt
Hey guys, i was talking to a few of you about a week ago thought id throw up and update on my mustanging. I bought a set up upper and lower control arms over the weekend and im getting my subframe connectors installed probably on wednesday. maybe even tomorrow. Looking forward to being able to get some traction at the track! do you guys think this will get be into the 8s on the 1/8th. im kind of doubting it but assuming its not quite enough what else do you guys think i can do aside from forced induction. do you think a set of headers would make any noticeable power. i was looking at some jba's dont know if they would be worth the time since they are shorties.
yeah im sure the cams will help a lot. i just need to find the money for the install i am not even going to consider tackling that one myselfi would imagine once you get the cams in the LTs would make a little bit of difference i mean hell if you already have the rest of the bolt ons it sure can hurt
yeah im hoping so. i run low 9s consistently i was kind of surprised though but i think traction is a big part of it. as i said before the cams arent in yet but im expecting a noticeable difference when they are. they are just sitting there with the new springs waiting for install. i got a quote for 900 to have them put in and a dyno tune. im not sure if that in high or not but i cant afford it right nowWith the cams I would be shocked if you don't get into the 8's in the 1/8 mile, 9.0's in the 1/8 are running about 14 flat, maybe a bit slower, you should be faster than that already, especially with the suspension work.
yeah thats good to hear. im really shocked i havent got there yet i kind of felt like i would be. i think after i put in the control arms and subframes ill be happy though. ups says the control arms should be here tomorrow! getting really excited over here hahaNot really sure if that's a good price, but it can't be all that bad as dyno tunes go for around $300 here. When I put cams in I plan on doing it myself, but that's a ways down the road, I'm focusing on the suspension right now.
The way your car sits right now I would think you could get into the 8's already, with the stuff you're waiting to install you'd almost have to try not to get into the 8's.
thats cool we have pretty much the same mods i think i have a few more unless your sig isnt up to date. seems kind of weird to me im running what seems to be pretty slowyeah you should surely get into the 8s with the suspension mods i ran an 8.93 in the 8th a couple of weeks ago with drag radials i havent done my suspension yet
very insightful. not offended at all im 20 years old and have been to the track 3 times. i have learned a lot in the past month of so of racing. the one thing i knew going into it was it was more than just flooring it ha. this forum is very helpful i have learned a lot here. i have heard of people using log books i think im going to start doing that. im very confident in my driving off the strip ive taken a lot of driving classes and things of that sort more than just the standard stuff just because i love driving so much and i think knowing how my car handles helps. but i have a lot to learn as for serious drag racing. this is quickly becoming an addiction haDon't be too hard on yourself, and not to be insulting, but you may just need to work on your driving, there's a lot more to drag racing than mashing the gas and pointing straight. Just be patient and keep trying different things. It really helps to keep a log book and write down things like launch and shift rpm, tire pressure, temp, humidity, altitude correction, and whether you had wheelspin or not and if it felt "good" or "bad" A lot of people lose a lot of time just by shifting too high in the rpms, with stock cams you shouldn't shift any higher than 5800, and maybe a little less, it can give you big gains. The biggest gains you'll find are on your launch, if you can pick up 1 tenth in your 60 foot time, it can translate into several at the end easily.
i got granatelli's i havent updated my mod list yet ha.I am actually in the market for Upper and Lower control arms. I am supercharged so I really need it. So I was curious to see which ones you bought? I dont see it in your long list of mods![]()
cool ill check that out thanks manI've been going to the drag strip for 20 years and I still learn things every time out. A long while back hot rod magazine did an article on how to drag race, its very well written, and well worth trying to find and read it, it goes into the do's and dont's as well as track etiquette, and how to play with your setup. Some of it is a bit dated as its for carb cars, but it'll still be well worth your time. Other than that, practice is the key, and developing a routine. Do everything in the same order every time, and try to make changes gradually so you'll see what works for you and what doesn't. But getting a routine is probably the most helpful, especially in bracket racing where consistency matters much more than just quickness.
