V6 vs. GT Insurance Difference?

13613 Views 13 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  NCV6stang
Somethings been on my mind lately,

I got a 09 Mustang V6 a few weeks ago, mainly because I am 22 and assumed a used Mustang GT would have been a lot more a month.

My plan was just to enjoy it until I am 25 and married, then trade up. By then the 05-09's will be old news and likely be cheaper too.

But, has anyone come across how much of a difference it actually is? I got a quote over the phone from Mercury saying it was only 200 more a year...:headscratch:

That doesn't sound right to me, and if it is I am kicking myself!!

Anyone want to put my mind at ease? It is driving me pretty crazy.

I don't know what it costs for a V6, but I pay @ $1500 a year for my '02 GT. I have full coverage on it and $500 deductibles. I'm 22, married, and we have no current citations/points on our record.
It depends a lot where you live too. I'm 21, and my GT is $2500 a year and I have a $500 deductible. No accidents yet. And that's a drop from the $3500 it was last year!
When my friend was pricing insurance, the difference between coverages for a new V6 and a new Bullitt was another $1,000 a year.

He's 48, so his rates are already a little lower.
Wow sounds like I'm gettin off cheap..... I am 18 years old, with one no fault accident, and I have an 07 v6 that I pay $1440 a year for... but that's with a multiple car discount ( I think we have 9 vehicles on insurance) and a grade discount and drivers ed discount with 500 and 250 deductibles
I'm 16 and have full coverage and it's like 1,200 dollars.....I hate that it's that high but I guess i have it good... Don't really know why it's that low compared to yours
Good Lord....36 married..no citations...2007v6...$875 a year...$500 deductible full coverage
22, Married, $800 a year with full coverage , 0 deductible.
$800 and no deductible...whose your provider???
why did i get the short end of the stick on this deal?! :so
Hmm, the average V6 price out of all of these comments is about what I am paying now. Getting married brings it down a ton so those wouldn't apply to me yet.

I am still wondering what people are paying for the newer GTs so I can compare if it is that much of a difference or not. I was thinking around 1500-2000 more a year for a GT since I am under 25. That Mercury quote really threw me off.

Although I do realize I posted this in the V6 section to get answers on the first half of my question. :scratchchin

Any S197 GT guys around here?
19 one accident(not at fault)
mom is my insurance agent it is still 2k a year or 167 a month

i priced out a GT and i couldnt even get insruance..
the cheapest i did end up finding was close to 7,000 a year

they really dont want young guys in big V8's
sucks for us :headscratch:
$800 and no deductible...whose your provider???
Good ole USAA. And I had a car stolen in January 2008 while insured with them, and it didn't affect my rates.
Age is a big factor in all insurance. Shop around, you can get discounts for multiple polices ( home, life, renters ) even having other family members ( they have to be living with you ) on the policy.

Happy Hunting !
