Was just wondering what i will need to do a spring upgrade on a set of gt40 heads on a explorer.Will be installing direct replacement beehive springs to prevent valve float with the new cam.have a spring compressor what else do i need to be aware of

The valve seals should be it. Make sure they clear the inside of the springs.

is the new cam stock ? if not then you'd need to buy the right spring for the lift of your cam, and have a machine shop install them at the correct height , then you wont ever have to worry about float

Will be installing tfs stage 1 cam. The crane cam behive springs are part number crn-99841-16 are specific springs for ford 5.0 and 5.8 motors with roller cams.Will this be a straight spring swap or do i NEED A machine shop

unless you have the proper tool to check the lbs. presure, and proper install height for the pedastal mount rockers, i'd suggest a recommended local machine shop.

You may want to check this experience........ and maybe consider switching to a single w/damper type of spring. Just a thought.
