ok ill try to explain this.....i just put a remanufactured 3650 and a ford racing throwout bearing in my car and it makes a really loud squeal/screeching sound every now and then. it seems to be only when the car is moving. like, the car never does it when its sitting still at first start-up but as soon as i move and get to about 2000rpm it does it and it will continue to do it throughout every gear, every rpm, even while im shifting. the faster or slower i go doesnt matter the noise remains constant and never changes in tone or volume. same thing goes for the rpms. the noise never changes. get this, it even does it when i put it in neutral and am coming to a stop.STILL DOES IT AFTER IVE COMPLETELY STOPPED. then it will just randomly go away..i have no idea at all what the problem is. anybody ever heard of anything like this or have any idea what it is? the sound sounds like wind blowing through a tiny crack or a tea kettle....i think something may be loose because when i hit a bump sometimes when its not making the noise it will make it for a split second as the car bounces from the bump

No clue...

BUT! Here is a test to see if it is coming from inside the transmission.

See if you can get it to make the noise while the car is stopped and the transmission is in a gear, such as 4th. The clutch would have to be pressed to the floor, of course, for it to be stopped and in gear, but under that condition, nothing inside the transmission is turning. Not even the clutch disk.

I've heard a new tail seal squeal on the yoke, and it couldbe described like that, but it would never continue after the car is stopped.

no doubt at all.....i took my shifter boot off and the dash piece and the sound is coming from right there actually sounds like its coming from right under my shifter
Ok, what year is the car?
And it is a really high-pitched noise that doesn't vary in pitch with the speed?

it kinda looked bent though lol....not on the outside or inside but on the wide part..idk if thats the back or front theres like a silver ring in it and it had a very small bend...i highly doubt that bend is the cause because that part wouldnt touch anything...it wasnt really bent it just didnt look centered up

UPDATE- drove the car this morning and it was doing it VERY badly and i remembered how i can hear it do it for a split second if i hit a bump so i hit the brakes pretty hard while it was doing it...just enough to make the weight of the car shift to the front and for the front to do a small nose dive and the noise went away immediately...as soon as the car's weight shifted forward...i did this 3 times and the same result happened each time, however the noise came back when i took off again...also the car always seems to do it after it has rained and on the first start-up/drive....doesnt seem to do it once ive gotten the car pretty warm....could this be driveshaft related? maybe a u-joint or something?

the ford shop fixed it today....they said the output shaft was double sealed or something....they cut a little circle of rubber off and it stopped
Ok, they didn't use the original style tail seal, but the more common seal that has a "boot" over the outer part. The boot gets in the way and under certain conditions can squeal.

With the outer part cut off it will have a little less resistance to dirt, but it will be fine!
