My 2019 has dual black over the top stripes with red 1/4” borders. The red stripes are laid on top of the black stripes, not on the cars paint. The edges are starting to lift. Anyone have success or ideas on best way to stick them back down? Stripes are in great condition.

Any factory over the top black stripes won't be painted on either unless someone else custom painted it. I'm assuming that the red pinstriping was added after the car was bought. If the red stripes are what's peeling up then just carefully peel them off. From my understanding there's no getting striping to stick again and if they're just extra pinstripes it's not a big loss anyway as it's not stock.

Can you take a good closeup pic?

I agree with others here. Your best option is to remove those red stripes. A little bit of heat and a spray bottle of soapy are likely the most complicated tools you will need. Maybe an Exacto or razor blade for those tricky spots that don't otherwise want to lift. Take your time and patience is a virtue. Use a STOP WORK mentality in the unlikely the instance you see the black stripes lifting (which of course I hope you do not experience) You will wish to avoid marring the OEM black stripes.

Once the red ones are removed, I hope you don't have "printing" - for lack of a better word - where the red stripes left telltale marks behind. This will be a function of how much sun and harsh weather your 'Stang has seen as well as how well the exterior has been cared for.

If so, and you like the red stripes, lay down new ones of your color choice after cleaning and prepping.

If there are no prior witness marks, you can go without replacing them or even lay down new ones next to the OEM stripes also.

GOOD LUCK!

+1 for pictures too!

Guys, I have 8” black vinyl over the top stripes. On the outer edge of the stripes are Red border stripes. See pic. The red vinyl is on top of the black vinyl. The red stripes are starting to lift. How can I repair?? Thanks to all.

Jimbo, you already had a thread for this, so they are merged. You still haven’t provided the requested pics.

Please stick to this thread for the issue. No More New Threads About This Issue Please!

Yes, sorry. Vinyl stuck on vinyl. It came this way, I did not add the border stripes.

In my humble and respectful opinion, I do not believe there is anything you can do to get them to lay down flush without looking worse than they do now.

To me, the issue is that yellowish substance underneath the pinstripes where they are lifting. If I didn't know any better, I would think whoever applied those red pinstripes did not remove the paper backing before they were laid down!

See my above suggestion --> I would recommend gently peeling them off. Low heat and a bottle of soapy spray water should be all you need. Maybe a razor blade. Warm the stripes up where they are currently lifting, spritz them liberally getting the soapy water underneath the lifted edges, and gently peel them off. Including the backing paper.

For the pinstripes that may not yet be lifting, use a razor blade to lift a starting point that is inconspicuous. Then repeat as above.

If this isn't your cup of tea, contact your local shop that does vinyl wraps and they can surely help you!

For the pinstripes to not last more than a few years and seeing adhesive backing left underneath tells me that these were cheap pinstripes not worthy of being on any car. Peel them off carefully as described above and either leave the black racing stripes as they are or find a sign shop or body shop to put new and better pinstriping on.
