talk him down......the v3 kits are nice because they are self contained units, but it does has 40k miles on it so paying 2k for everything besides supporting mods is kind of expensive. you can get the tuner kit from vortech for about 3.5k or so i think. I would give him 1.5k for it and nothing more.......although what all comes with his "kit"? is it just the mount, supercharger, and the piping? or is it with the intercooler and the belts, extra pullies? let me know
Vortech v-3 blower
I recently met this guy with a 97 cobra and he has a vortech v-3 blower on it. He told me that he spun his camshaft berring and is parting out his car. He said he'll sell me his blower for 2k. The supercharger has around 40k miles on it. Would it be dumb if i bought a used supercharger or no? He said he changed the oil in the blower ever 5k miles with royal purple, and that he would give me everything from the kit except the t-rex fuel pump and the injectors. Would it be worth the 2k ?

its like all the kits sold by procharger and vortech etc etc. its almost like a build your own kit. you get the bear essentials but you get to pick what else you want with it, like a 3-core intercooler v 2 core. or polished headunit(add 250) stuff like that. i believe its cheaper than buying the 6-8psi kit, but thats just me. shop around before you commit.Yeah its the intercooling and the piping, the intake, And im not sure about extra pullies. i Think he has an 8lbs pully on it. I'd skip it...get a turbo w/ intercooler, you'll be way better off
very true. turbos make great power, i just dont want to drill a hole in my oil pan to feed the turbo. thats my only problem with a turbo, plus the piping is a PITA to setup a turbo. if you do go with a turbo get EVERYTHING ceramic coated, even the turbo its self. on3performance sells an inexpensive kit for your car. don tknow there reputation though...........I'd skip it...get a turbo w/ intercooler, you'll be way better off

Now would a turbo be a better option buying bran new because im a little skeptical with the guy because i dont know him personally and who knows if theres somthing wrong with the blower and hes trying to rip me off because im young? id rather buy somthing new, Now why would i be better off with a turbo? im new to the whole boost thing with these motors lol

yea, now that i think about it i think he might have a 99 cobra? there are two guys on here with an avatar of a red 96-98 cobra but one of them has a 99 cobra now. although i think his name is rich96cobra. I think. either way i can see where you got confused. that sucks that they discontinued the v3 for the 99-01 cobras. arent you running a v2 s trim?oops I'm sorry I mistook the years, I thought 99...

Actually Vortech Never offered a kit with a V-3 head unit for the 99-01's, only the V-1 and V-2's! I looked for a V-3 head unit for over a year before I picked up a brand new polished V-2 on E-Bay:bigthumbsup

Yeah they might be faster than me right now but my car is going to sound better than those 4cyl cars ( still waiting on my motor rebuilder to finish it)!!
