Just to let those know that may be thinking about the new 4 piece Off Road H Pipe, welding is a MUST!! They sent the new pipes to me from Brenspeed and they swore they would work with the band clamps they sent. The band clamps are very nice, however the joint were the 2 slide together are a big difference in size. They expanded the outside pipe too much and now I have to take them to get welded! Just to let everyone know what to expect.

Brenspeed changed the design to save themselves money on shipping and not pass on any savings! I payed the same price as the 2 piece. They should have left well enough alone when it worked fine before.

Damnit. Is there ANY way to get a new o/r H-pipe that does not have to be welded? An AFM member who will not be named for now was supposed to be ready to ship me a used 2-piece on the 15th. Everything was planned out and ready to go, but he hasn't answered any pm's or emails since the 14th. Good thing I didn't already send him to the paypal address he gave me:nono:. O well. I guess I'm on the search again.

Hmm... Thank you very much for the find!!!! Is there really any difference between the Pypes and Summit brand o/r exhaust regarding sound and performance? The only real difference that I can see is that the Pypes is stainless steel.

They switched to stainless steel at one time also. But not for long and back to the Aluminized. Hopefully they will switch back to at least the 2 piece design.
I dont think it was Brenspeeds idea to make them 4 pieces, dunno.

Unfortunately it was Brenspeeds idea. When I talked to one of the reps on the phone, he told me they had Pypes change it for ease of installation (just as easy to bolt in a 2 piece) and for cost savings on shipping that they will pass on. Ofcoarse I was told all this prior to them getting the first shipment of the new pipes. I called back at a later date to order and found out they were keeping the price the same. :headscratch:

I have my old Pypes offroad H 2 piece in my garage. I have been contemplating getting rid of them. I will think about it more this week and post in the classifieds if I decide to get rid of them.

Yeah guys, it sucks at first, but I don't regret getting them. I just took them to an exhaust shop I deal with and they welded them for $10.00. I would order them again, it's just a pain in the @$*. If Brenspeed would have had Pypes "slot" the outside pipe it may have worked, the band clamp can't crush the pipe that much.

pypes makes a nice band clam thats like 4 or 5 inches wide to make the H pipe that you have work. i bought the ford racing cut in x pipe and mistakingly went to midas to have them install it. i had leaks everywhere and these band clamps sealed and strengthend everything up. i bought them from rpm outlet for like $10 and the clamps are stepped right for the factory id/od

True, the wide "stepped" band clamps are the highest quality of the band clamps and work great. I have bought them from Summit before and used them. The clamps from Pypes are a standard band clamp that measures 1 1/4 inches wide that comes with the H pipe and unfortunately can't crush the pipe an 1/8 th of an inch. A saddle clamp would have worked, but I don't like to use those.

I had to weld mine up also to keep them from leaking and I had to relocate the 02 sensor bung because the sensor was touching the tranny. I cut it out with a dremel, angled it away from the tranny and tig welded it back in place. It was aggrivating but now its good to go.

Just thought I'd give ya'll a heads up on the sensor bung.
